maggot_brain
Everyone seems to think so. I haven't really been watching him much lately but his figures aren't getting better and he doesn't seem to be the wicket taker he once was. Obviously there's some political/emotional issues involved with him being the only black player, but when it's time to go, it's time to go. Link to comment

Dravid
all he does is goes wide of the crease and angles the ball in at good length.. even to tailenders, wtf is that during his 100th test, he was all charged up, bowled a good ball to cook in his 1st over, and AB of all dropped a catch in slips rofl Link to comment
sm332
a fantastic career is coming to an end. Well done to Ntini ... 100 tests close to 400 wickets. Nice large hearted guy and a compelling story for a troubled country. Link to comment

f.b.m
Don't want to beat a dead horse and state the obvious but its really time up for Ntini. If they really want a non-white replacement, I cant see how Wayne Parnell can do worse than him in this sort of form. Its really a tragedy that a bowler with so much natural talent, energy and dedication is failing. Most specialist bowlers, by the time they play 100 test matches are usually nowhere near their 'devastating best' but manage to spearhead attacks anyway by out-thinking batsmen. The saddest part about Ntini's career is that he is exactly as unimaginative as he was when he started out (just with less energy) and so is never going to end up in the same league as Pollock or Donald. lonestarranger
Sorry this had to come up, but for me he'd always be remembered for reasons 'other' than cricket! Link to comment
Ram
South Africa erred big time by not dropping Ntini for the 2nd test and picking the newbie De Wet (?), who bowled ever so well in the drawn first test. The debutant nearly won South Africa that match with a superb spell, late on day 5. With the 2nd test now gone, its desperate stations now for the Saffies. They're sure to ring in some changes, dont be surprised if the exclusion of Ntini is one of 'em. Link to comment
PotterManiac
I still remember him bowling to Sehwag in the Chennai test where he got the triple hundred. He's a good bowler of course but maybe, he is wearing off. Link to comment

ESPN
SA paceman Ntini to call it a day? SA paceman Ntini to call it a day? The first black cricketer to play for South Africa, pacer Makhaya Ntini is planning to bid adieu to his international career. Ntini is planning to quit after being dropped for the third Test against England. Ntini has reportedly signed an agreement with English county side Middlesex that will keep him from being available for national duty. Udal: Middlesex keen on Ntini Ntini celebrated his 100th Test in the second Test against England last month but was left out of the team for the third Test due to his consistently declining performance in the past two years. Although Cricket South Africa (CSA) remained tight-lipped, sources close to Ntini indicated that the 32-year-old former herdsman had signed a Kolpak contract with Middlesex. Such a contract requires players to undertake that they would not be available for their national team. Ntini has a contract with CSA until April. "CSA has not heard anything yet from Ntini," Proteas spokesman Michael Owen-Smith told the Afrikaans daily 'Beeld'. "The selectors will decide if he is offered a contract again and he can then decline the contract," he said. Ntini, who became a celebrity after being snapped up out of obscurity and poverty as a rural herdsman, was the first black African player in the national side after decades of the team being exclusively white in the apartheid era. Ntini has taken 391 wickets from 101 Tests, while snapping up 266 in 173 ODIs. Link to comment

Feed
I'll be back - Ntini Makhaya Ntini has vowed to make a return to Test cricket and says he hasn't signed a kolpak contract in England. More... I'll be back - Ntini January 04 2010 at 11:27AM Iconic fast bowler Makhaya Ntini has denied that he has signed a Kolpak contract to play county cricket in England. A spokesman for Ntini told Sapa on Monday that the veteran paceman had said he was not contemplating a Kolpak contract because he believed his Test career was not over. Ntini, who has played 101 Tests for South Africa, taking 390 wickets, was dropped from the South African team for the ongoing third Test against England at Newlands after failing to take a wicket in the second Test in Durban, where South Africa suffered their worst defeat against England in 64 years. Ntini was last dropped from the South African team for the Boxing Day Test against Australia in Melbourne in 2001/2002. After his omission from the team was announced on Sunday, there were reports that he had signed a Kolpak contract to play for English county Middlesex. "I believe I have more Test cricket ahead of me," Ntini said. "I am going to concentrate on getting back into the Test team." - Sapa Link to comment
