Is Zaheer Khan our greatest ever pacer?

Titles like "greatest ever" are pretty misleading and generally do not provide any conclusive arguments. It is all hypothesis when you rate one bowler better than the other across generations. Some comparisons are pretty straight forward if the averages and other stats are vastly different, however in case of Md. Nissar and Amar Singh, the records say very little how they would have performed over a period of say, 50 tests. Would they have been as successful as they were in those 5-6 tests? May be, may be not ... who knows ... I'd rather leave the argument at who the best bowlers have been across generations, rather searching for THE ONE.

Srinath had enough pace to trouble any batsman on any wicket. I cannot say the same for Zaheer. Kapil of course is No.1. If only Kapil had a Srinath to bowl with him in his prime days, his strike rate and avg would have been so much better.

I am seriously starting to wonder if he is actually our best pacer ever! Brilliant in this test again.
I always felt he is, for almost 3 years now, the problem is, his poor fitness and he himself doesn't realizing that how good he can be, just like Srinath

^ Even i think alike. Zak has so many things going for him. Agreed that Kapil Dev was a more complete bowler but it was only before a severe injury that he had got. I am not sure of the details but I have read that he was not the same bowler after that injury. That was 1984 after which he was effective at best. Zaheer on the other hand has gone from strength to strength after his initial outburst. And on top of it Zak is really becoming the bane of our victories(not considering the current Test Match). He is the go to man of our captain whenever a wicket is needed and he does not dissappoint.
