I find all sledging distasteful. So raising the question about sledging Clarke on his personal life is a moot question to me. Degrees of sledging or abuse is something very hard to define. You either are fully for it or fully against it. That is why Mcgrath must be castigated for his part in that episode with Sarwan. And he was far more guilty than Sarwan too - of transgressing the lines of sportsmanship and even decency.

Yeah, and thats why I didn't say anything about Hussey defending Clarke. I dont agree with folks who think he's wrong to take time off for the incident with his fiancee or wife or whatever. But when you ask me why someone wouldn't defend Clarke, I gave you 2 reasons. I'm sure there are plenty more. I think its hysterical for anyone from Australia to ask the press and players of the hosting country to lay off a player. I will show you a plethora of articles from "esteemed" journalists like Malcolm Conn who had to say plenty of things about India before even the series began. For the record, in an attempt to defend Australian players, they even attacked India's caste system and listed out the castes of each Indian player - on Cricinfo!

Seeing as how you've attacked McGrath and other Aussie players from your OP and other posts in this thread, wouldn't this be, I dont know - the exact opposite of what you were trying to preach. NZ players are nice enough to not do that - and its a sham that Vettori's team hasn't been winning the Spirit of Cricket award - even more ridiculous is that Sri Lankans have been winning it. They are very very good sportsmen.

Yeah mate. But these guys really boil me up. As in, seriously do they lack proficiency with bat and ball to need the lip to win? I know the NZ guys won't do anything unless provoked. Just some banter to cheer our man 99.94 FM up :--D. And don't you find it a bit strange that the Aussies are now acting all Nice and noble when it comes to sledging, telling others whats good and whats not when they've themselves been overstepping the line for years at stretch? I think the boys are just caught up in their own crap and are going all defensive. you misunderstand what most people on this thread are saying. i haven't read any posts saying coming out of nowhere with an attack about someones personal life is ok. what people are saying, is that if clarke sledges anyone first, hes not going to get any sympathy for what comes back at him.

Even if the reverse happened, I still don't think he would get any sympathy.

McGrath was a great bowler but an absolute idiot on the field. Off it he's a great guy to talk to but he had no reason spewing at people at every given opportunity in the name of mental disintegration and sledges. He's got personal with a lot of players and he was a **** on the field simple as that. McGrath is a great man outside the cricket arena, one of the noble ones but again he's not looked up as a good guy given his persona in the cricket field and his image that comes across as a brat on telly. I think McGrath deserved every possible abuse given he was the first one to give. As for Kiwis giving Clarke a hard time, there will obviously be one or two odd comment from behind the stumps during the test (You know from whom). I don't think the rest of the black caps are silly enough to dig one's personal issues. That said Clarke was torn apart by the Aussie media already, couple of them traveled with him on the same flight sitting next to him bothering him all the way. Aussie media is ruthless and they will do everything to bring Clarke down. Kiwis shouldn't even bother wasting their time.
