Desi Cartman Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 MUMBAI: After targeting north Indians, Raj Thackeray-led MNS has launched a campaign against foreigners employed with Bollywood. However, MNS will not target those foreigners who work in movies to fulfil scripts’ requirements. MNS has also demanded roles for junior artist, preferably Marathis. This was stated by MNS cine-workers’ union president Shalini Thackeray on Monday. She claimed police were harassing MNS workers opposing foreigners in Hindi movies. Eleven MNS activists were arrested on Sunday for allegedly demanding Rs 25 lakh from line producer V Bhutani of Abhishek Bachchan-starrer ‘Crooked’ for allowing foreigners to work in the film. ‘‘We plan to file a case against film producer Ritesh Sidhwani and Bandra cops for falsely implicating our boys. They all belong to well-to-do families and had gone to the studio to check if the 136 foreigners working there had proper permits,’’ she said. ‘‘The production team promised to show the permits, but instead called cops and got them arrested in a false case,’’ she stated. However, the police have rejected the charge. Shalini, married to Jitendra Thackeray, a cousin of Raj, said the MNS union would now raid film sets where foreigners would be found working. ‘‘We will check whether they have valid permits. Many times, foreigners come here on tourist visas, but take up work in Bollywood,’’ she said. As far as dance sequences were concerned, she said foreigners would not be allowed to feature as item girls or those dancing in the background. ‘‘Why can’t our Indian actors dance with locals? We will insist that only local junior artist should be employed,’’ she stated. Shalini said MNS was concerned about the influx of foreigners in the film industry in view of the recent terror threats. ‘‘In Sunday’s incident, several Afghan and Iran nationals were found working on the set. We need to keep a check on their backgrounds,’’ she added. Subhanallah

They have already gone a few steps ahead of that. They have, on several occasions, tried to stop non-Maharshtrian students from studying in Maharashtra. Usually that is done by attacking students at entrance examinations and admission sites for government colleges. Same has been done for government recruitments as well.

ViruRulez Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 SS and MNS digging their own grave since the last few years .. but I find the Congress govt. equally pathetic as they are allowing the SS and MNS crap to continue on as they know that their own votes will increase as SS and MNS keeps on digging their own graves And frankly speaking Maharastra politics is screwed for any foreseeable future .. all the three main political parties in the state are really crap (it is crap in most parts of India including the center too but I am saying about not only crap but serious crap) and the Maharastra junta will be forced to vote one of three crap administrations .. Congress is ultimately gaining from this SS and MNS joke but the state of Maharastra is becoming the biggest loser with all this joke

MNS is doing what it's doing because they know that it would fetch them votes. Therefore, its the society that is responsible for what is happening and not the political parties. The political parties are merely supplying what is in demand. If it was not MNS, it would have been some other party.
