Understanding a test bowlers psyche: What demoralizes them most?

What do you think demoralizes the bowler more ? 1) Ruthless attacking batters like Sehwag/Viv Richards who punish even perfectly good deliveries and can take the game away in a session - but always gives that odd " chance" because of their attacking style 2) Batsmen like Dravid/Gavaskar/SRT/Kallis - very orthodox and classical with that ultra solid demeanor where even after a couple of overs the bowler gets that feeling, that it is going to be a long day indeed.

Dead as a dodo pitch where the ball never rises more than waist height and there is no swing or turn. Then it will be a long 2 or 3 days.

None..flat tracks is what does the trick..If Sehwag/Viv hit bowlers around on a green-top , it will atleast keep them interested as every attacking stroke is more of a chance to get em. If Dravid stone-walls bowlers on a green-top, it is just a matter of producing that unplayable peach which is a lot easier on a green top

Assumption: It is a good cricket wicket offering help to bowlers as well as being batsman friendly. ex: Lords, Kolkata, Chennai, MCG, Perth, Brabourne etc ( Excluding pattas like Faisalabad, Ahmedabad, Lahore Karachi, Antigua etc...and minefields and cowfields set up by home teams to favour their side )

Fielders like Ishant, Praveen, Nehra. wait they are also bowlers.

I would say the attacking batsmen, because they are also taking the game away from the bowlers. With the second option the game is not really moving forward and the batsmen require only one blip in concentration and they could be back in the pavilion with the game not really having gone much further.

I personally feel the classical/orthodox bowlers would demoralize the bowlers more. From the cricket I have watched, just by watching the first 15- 20 runs and that comfort level/ assurance, as a viewer one can almost predict that a SRT/Ponting/Dravid..is going to score a big one. I am sure the bowlers in the field would understand that better. A Sehwag/Viv Richards will hurt you more ..but they keep offering that hope, with their style of play.

As a fan i got demoralized more by Jayasuriya than anyone else.

Interesting question. But just like a great batsman wouldnt get demoralised because of agressive bowling against them and wait them/attack them out, similarly good bolwers are not going to be demoralised by someone hitting them out of the park. The best are mentally very strong and will keep on coming back at you until, you make that one mistake.

Batsmen with a lot of time to play the ball: attacking or defensive.. In other words, talented batsmen. edit: This is a club bowler's psyche.

Fro my personal experience. most demoralized when i was hit for 4 sixes and a 4 in an over . When someone likes that comes at you feel you are powerless.

I think it's when the batsman seemingly has all the time in the world to play you, and just doesn't look like he's going to go. I think it's more mentally and physically demoralizing then being hit around just because, with those, also come chances, me thinks

3. Pitches or roads. 4. Umpires. 5. Increasingly being turned into a batsmen's game. I still enjoy watchin Zak run in and deliver.

Classy batsmen that just never look like getting out, never let slip at any point. Seriously demoralising as a bowler. Then there's those batsman that play and miss at anything outside off stump, but then edge anything that's on the stumps along the ground. More frustrating than demoralising though.
