Re: Ban Revoked for Dopey Shoby and Asif Shoaib, Asif exonerated in doping case KARACHI: The PCB anti-doping appeal committee exonerated Pakistan fast bowlers Shoaib Akhtar and Mohammad Asif in a verdict on their appeals against bans under doping charges. Justice Fakhruddin G Ebrahim, head of the anti-doping appeal committee, announced the decision at his chamber in Karachi on Tuesday noon. Shoaib and Asif tested positive for banned anabolic steroid nandrolone in October and were later found guilty of doping by an inquiry tribunal set up by the PCB. The tribunal banned Shoaib for two and Asif for one year but the players refused to accept the decision saying that they never knowingly used any banned drugs. The three-man appeal committee had completed the process of hearing the banned players? appeals on Monday. Renowned lawyer Abid Minto represented Shoaib Akhtar during the hearings of the appeal committee while Asif?s case was fought by Aftab Gul, an accomplished lawyer who is also a former Test cricketer.

Re: Ban Revoked for Dopey Shoby and Asif This is a disgrace. Completely expected, I suppose, from that part of the world. The Pakistani cricket board has made a laughing stock of itself. But we haven't heard the end of this yet. Oh no, sir! Just yesterday the WADA guy released a book criticizing Warne's one year ban. Watch them lean on ICC. Things to get interesting from here on.

Re: Ban Revoked for Dopey Shoby and Asif If the PCB had paraded its cricketers naked through the streets of Karachi, it couldn't have done a better job of disgracing themselves and the players. First, completely unsolicited, they run dope tests on the lot, drawing attention to the cesspool of cheating and thuggery that is Pakistani cricket. What's new, says the rest of the world? Then, lambasted severely by their fanatical, one-eyed fans, who couldn't spell "integrity" if you shoved a dictionary up their ass, PCB wriggles and squirms, and finally puts up a facade of an appeal, so that the axe can be disentangled from the foot.... To be buried deeply in the head. What a facking tamasha! What a circus! If it weren't so tragic, I would be laughing my ass off at it.

Re: Ban Revoked for Dopey Shoby and Asif Are we really supposed to be taken aback by this ? The PCB scumbags obviously succumbed to the pressure, and this was always on the cards. What do you expect from a nation like Paki, where clearly justice and laws arent worth the paper they are written on. We have seen cricketers like Akram let off for match-fixing in the past, exonerated of all charges without any thorough investigation. This shouldn't come as a surprise at all. The ICC themselves are no better - sitting back and watching these farcical events unfold. Now Chappell and Dravid should hire a top class chemist and get themselves a head-start while they still can...

Re: Ban Revoked for Dopey Shoby and Asif Order restored in Pak after a cunning period when they made the world think that the country indeed was part of the civilized world.

Re: Ban Revoked for Dopey Shoby and Asif What an utter disgrace but totally expected. This is great news as Pakistan have humiliated themselves once again and are now going to get criticised and be reviled even more then they are now. The rest of the world once again sees what a joke of a country pak is.

Re: Ban Revoked for Dopey Shoby and Asif phew, relieved. the 'fair and open' tribunal thing with punishments meted out justly was facking with my worldview. that's more like it boyzz.

Re: Ban Revoked for Dopey Shoby and Asif Leave alone ordinary fans, Kamran Abbasi, ex-acting editor of BMJ, and current editor of the Journal of the Royal Society of Medicine, argues in his blog on Cricinfo that justice has been done. If this is the morality that prevails among the literati, what hope is there for the plebeian on the street?
