b555 Posted June 8, 2010 Posted June 8, 2010 Chennai: The Badminton Association of India on Monday said that the proposal of former Indian cricket captain to contest for the post of BAI president is ‘invalid’. “We have just learnt from TV channels that Mohammed Azharuddin has proposed to contest for the post of president, Badminton Association of India (BAI) in the ensuing election to be held in Chennai on June 13,†BAI joint secretary Punnaiah Choudary said in a letter addressed to BAI president VK Verma, copies of which were released to the press. “We would like to bring to the kind attention of the house that Mohammed Azharuddin is serving a life ban imposed on him by the Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI), which bans him from contesting any position of office-bearers at national or even state level,†the letter said. “As BCCI is a national sports federation (NSF) recognised by the government of India and is affiliated to the International Cricket Council, any punishment awarded to an individual in one NSF, which questions the moral turpitude is equally applicable to others NSFs. Under the BAI Constitution, as far as my knowledge goes, the proposal of Azharuddin is to be held invalid. I mean, isnt each one of these supposed to be a time intensive "job"?! How the heck can a guy do all three at the same time?! Its an insult to each of these sporting bodies... :banghead:

Other than being the Agricultural minister of our entire country (an easy job considering the condition of our farmers, irrigation and agriculture in general) he was the chairman of BCCI until 2008. He shall be the ICC president pretty damn soon. And here's what he's been head of (sports only) - Mumbai Cricket Association - Maharashtra Wrestling Association - Maharashtra Kabbadi Association - Maharashtra Kho Kho Association - Maharastra Olympics Association - International Cricket Council Vice President
