Australia call up Shaun Tait for Nathan Hauritz One-day international series: England v Australia Dates: 22 June - 3 July Australia have called up paceman Shaun Tait in place of injured spinner Nathan Hauritz for the remainder of the one-day series against England. Hauritz will return to Australia to recover after suffering a foot injury. Australia selector Andrew Hilditch said concerns about an injury to fast bowler Ryan Harris had contributed to the decision to call up Tait. "Shaun is still very much in the thoughts of the selectors for the upcoming ICC World Cup," said Hilditch. Tait, who has been playing Twenty20 cricket for Glamorgan, has an unusual low-slung action which sees his front leg crumple in his delivery stride but he can still generate deliveries well in excess of 90mph. He returned to action earlier this year after taking a break from cricket because of mental and physical exhaustion and Hilditch said the ongoing series presents Tait "with a great opportunity to again represent Australia in one-day cricket". Australian physiotherapist Alex Kountouris said Hauritz had begun to suffer pain in the first ODI and the pain became "more severe" during Thursday's second ODI, which England won by four wickets. "The pain is likely to be related to a previous foot injury and we have decided the best course of action is to withdraw Nathan from the current tour to allow sufficient time for it to recover," added the physio. Harris will continue to be monitored by Australian medical staff after reporting soreness in the groin area following the first one-day game against England at the Rose Bowl. The third ODI takes place at Old Trafford on Sunday.

We hardly have anyone else who can replace him, may as well put in a pacer at least he is good enough.

Hauritz has never impressed me as an attacking spinner, a restrictive spinner sure, and definitely a decent bat, but a wicket taking spinner, no. Im iffy about Tait as well, i think he definitely has that x factor, but can be expensive, and id be unsure if he could maintain his pace over 10 overs which is his main weapon. Bollinger is fine, deserves his spot and has been the bowler for Australia. Mckay has been rubbish, im not sure how his domestic season has been but in the ODI's he has been unimpressive and lackluster, he doesnt have raw pace like a Lee or Tait, or steepling bounce like a Mcgrath, i havnt seen him swing it like a Hilfenhaus, so what exactly does he have going for him?

Exactly right with Hauritz, he is a defensive type of bowler.. He's good enough for one dayers but not tests, most of his wickets come through the mistakes of the batsman. I don't mind him in the one day side though because he can keep the economy down and chips in with the bat.
