It's funny how our fast bowling stocks have dwindled while the quality of pitches for domestic cricket has improved slightly. When we had absolute pattas for domestic matches, we got the likes of Zaheer, Irfan, RP, Munaf, Sree and Ishant . But now with there being some help for the bowlers, there is no one really who looks like being ready for international cricket!! The fading away of MRF pace academy in the last few years also seems to be a huge factor now, with NCA's plans of developing and nurturing pace bowlers looks non existent. COming back to Mithun, there is enough in him to workwith and convert him into a steady 82-83 mph swing bowler. But not sure if the system will let him develop any further.

Its funny how the examples you have used have never really made a prolonged impact for India, they will are still the future (especially RP+SS+MP) and are alot better than Ishant and Mithun, not a fan of IS especially how expensive he can be and he hasnt done enough for india to make you think 'oh he goes for a few bounderies but on his day can win us matches', like England can say with Anderson.

I think that because his bouncer does hone in on the target and he can often cramp the batsmen for room, that Mithun was thought to be a genuinely fast bowler. He has been known to bowl over 140kph too, as in his IPL debut, so the misunderstanding is clear. India must look to see that Mithun, with all his inexperience, causes problems at 125-130kph on flat pitches and so the battery of medium pacers who have 100s FC wickets could defiinitely take wickets at Test level.

What do you guys think of this bowler? What was his average bowling speed? Is he a 90MPH bowler? Was MSD right to play him in all 3 test matches instead of Munaf Patel?

One guy, Ishant sharma , leaks run and very inconsistent in picking wickets (Like Sir Agarkar) while Mithun is a medium pace trundler who doesnt leak run but can never pick a wicket. This is the worst combination of medium pace trundlers India have fielded. I think the pitches were not hopeless that these guys cant pick any wicket. Then how come malinga picked wickets?
