Herculus Posted August 8, 2010 Posted August 8, 2010 It really feels bad to see the state of cricket of these 3 nations. Pak 72 all out. WI 5-0 loss to South Africa. BD losing to Ireland & Netherlands. Kenya gone. We had 9 strong cricket nations few years back now it seems reduced to 6. Why this decrease in quality cricket ? How to solve it ?

Zap_Brannigan Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 Bad management. WI is losing its fan base and its youngsters to basketball and they havent been successful in popularizing cricket. In a few years, IPL and champions league will attract more youngsters into cricket than WICB. BD shot to fame because of a lone victory. They hardly had a good infrastructure to constantly produce good cricketers when they started and havent improved with it. Pak is pak. The whole country is going down and along with it, its cricket. They fast track decent first class players into international cricket and hope they come good. Sometimes it works but when it doesn't, it looks ugly. Constant infighting pushes senior players out and the atmosphere in the team doesn't encourage team bonding. When other team bring in newbies, they have the guidance of experienced players irrespective of the newbies talent, which builds them but when cheaters like afiridi, asif and aktar are the countries role model, things doesnt look good.

Smaller boards like WI and NZ working with BCCI to get more teams into Champions league so their domestic teams get more money and thus better infrastructure. Maybe even organize IPL teams to tour them. With BD, its about swallowing their pride and getting their team to play domestic cricket around the world. The last time BCCI allowed them, they were the worst team in the competition and so they stopped. With Pak, just wait till in 5 years US takes over that country and breaks the relationship between PCB and government. Then you have to raise kids teaching that showing aggression in all fields of life is not correct. The 1st step would be to remove this guy - Butt in Feb 2010 "I have already spoken to Lalit Modi about this and there is no chance of any team from Pakistan playing in the Champions League this year" Butt in May 2010 "I had said our players would not be in the IPL because of what had happened at the auction. I did not say that our domestic teams would not go to the Champions League. Why would I deprive them of that opportunity? My comments were misinterpreted."

What is the use of this league? Even if it proves popular in Pak or BD, who has the money to sponsor it? Champions league winner get 2.5 million which is 10 times over what an average league team earns in an entire year. How much can this tournament get? 50000 $ maybe, which will only cover the hotel stay. How can you say that politics will not interfere when Pak is playing esp since it is the biggest team in this tournament and will have to run point??

That is a massive myth, when people say that to Michael Holding he dismisses it straight away.
