Poor fella he wouldn't have had a grip of the situation, he would have done it as a spur of the moment. Fining match fees is all right but to ban him for a match for this, that's a bit over the top. There is a lot of genuine hatred against India from these people.

So you do accept that it was the media pressure and not the BCCI which ensured action in this case? And by doing this you do submit that SLC needed to prodded by the media and not by the incident per se, to protect their own honour and respect! PS- You conveniently picked on ONE part of my post to find stuff that could sail your boat. Given your posts, some of which are a touch dignified, I didn't expect this from you.

Getting punished for wrong doing (even if the punishment was too strict) never harms a young player in the long run. Its whn you ignore these things that indiscipline seeps into every player. Look at the state PCB and Pak players are right now. If they had acted strictly on the first major offenders, Asif and Sohaib, they wouldnt have had the long list of law breaking after that

I dont think it was a prank. I am quite sure that it was deliberate and malicious. But I agree with you that the punishment was harsh especially given that randiv showed the heart to come clean, confess and apologize. Not many would have done that. Things happen in the heat of the moment, but for me, the matter was over when he apologized. SLC needed to see whether Rabdiv did that under instructions from the captain or not. If Sanga had a role to play in it, he should have been punished. Randiv should have been rewarded for confessing and apologizing.
