Sreesanth had informed that he will join the Kerala team on September 14 in Hyderabad, KCA sources said today. Kerala team led by Raiphy vincent Gomez had left for Hyderabad on Sept 6. Sreesanth had been at loggerheads with the Kerala Cricket Association since he was dropped from captaincy of the team in July and had even indicated he might play for some other state. Expressing happiness over his decision, KCA Secretary T C Mathew said 'Sreesanth is free to play for the state. He is our boy'. The team: Raiphy vincent Gomez (Capt), Abhishek Hegde, Sambasiva Sarma, Sebastian Antony, Robert Fernandez, Rohan Prem, C P Rizwan, P Prasanth, C M Thejas, K R Sreejith, C Ramesh, M E Sanuth, K J Rakesh, P Parameswaran, A U Anthaf and S Sreesanth.

Moin-ud-Dowla tournament from today Special Correspondent HYDERABAD: The all-India Coromandel King Moin-ud-Dowla Gold Cup cricket tournament will be organised by Hyderabad Cricket Association from September 10 to 23, according to D. S. Chalapathi, secretary of HCA. Thirteen teams, including local outfits Hyderabad, HCA President's XI and HCA Colts XI, will be in action in the championship to be held on a two-day format with a maximum of 90 overs in each innings and the semifinals and the final will be three-day affairs. Hyderabad city teams Hyderabad, former Ranji Trophy champions, faced an embarrassment last year when they were relegated to the Plate division. M.P. Arjun, part of the Ranji team that had failed to make the cut in 2009 said he is more than ready to give his best and show that Hyderabad has the firepower to play at the highest level. “Ups and downs are part of any sportsman’s life and the only way for us is to go up and that can happen if we start performing well on the field. We did not have too much practice due to the rains in the city but are up for the task and show that teams from Hyderabad have the ability to do well. The performances will count if the team starts to win,” said the skipper of HCA XI. Alfred Absolem, who will turn up for the HCA Colts XI in the tournament felt that it was a good chance for every player to stand up and deliver. “Moin-ud Dowla has always helped those players who have done well in the tournament to bag a place in the Ranji side. It is important to maintain a consistent show,” Alfred said. Venkatapathy Raju, who will coach the HCA XI in the tournament was keen to see some good performances. “The selectors have picked three very balanced sides and it is an opportunity for everyone to prove their mettle. After what happened in the Ranji trophy last year, all players need to pull their socks up and do well. After Moin-ud Dowla, we have the zonals and it will be a good opportunity for the players to give an account of themselves,” Raju said. Tirumalsetti Suman, skipper of the HCA Colts XI said he was looking forward to putting up a good show in the tournament. “The preparations have been good and we will be hoping to put up a good solid performance,” he said. The tournament will also see young guns in the form of G.H. Vihari and Akshath Reddy. The three teams from city in the fray — HCA XI, HCA President’s XI and HCA Colts XI — will look to make amends for the poor outing last year and Moin-ud Dowla gives them the required platform to set the stage ablaze. Assess talent pool Like in the recent past, this time too, HCA has decided to invite only the respective State cricket association teams and not the private institutional teams with the specific objective of giving the State teams a feel of the talent available and the form the players are in ahead of the Ranji season. The teams which will be in action besides the three local teams are Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Bengal, Andhra, Vidarbha, Rajasthan, Kerala, Jharkhand, Orissa and Goa. The matches will be played at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium (Uppal), Gymkhana, AOC Centre, NFC and ECIL Grounds. The winner will be richer by Rs. 3 lakh and the runner-up by Rs. 1.5 lakh. Friday's matches: HCA vs. Orissa (ECIL), HCA President's XI vs. Vidarbha (Uppal), Rajasthan vs. Bengal (Gymkhana), HCA Colts vs. Jharkhand (NFC) and Goa vs. TNCA (AOC Centre) .

Sreesanth did the bowling for the first time y'day and took 3 wickets for 27 runs against Orissa in the Moin-ud-Dowla tournament. Not much detail available about it though. Second round (First day): Orissa 285 in 87.4 overs (Biplab Samantaray 62, Govind 41, Subhid 46, Niranjan Behera 35, Natraj Behera 35, S. Sreesanth three for 27, Raiph Vincent Gomez three for 60) vs Kerala. Would have preferred to know a bit more.

It seems that Sree's Kerala played its last match in Moin-ud-Dowla Gold Cup invitation cricket tournament at ECIL here on Thursday, and failed to reach the semis. I don't even know if Sreesanth played this match or not, since his name isn't mentioned in the notable bowling figures for Kerala. Wonder how he is doing. Does anyone know?
