Cheteshwar Pujara stands a strong chance to make it to the Indian Test squad for the first time when the selectors meet in Chennai on Monday to pick the 15 for the two-Test series against Australia starting in Chandigarh on Oct. 1. More... Pujara likely to get the nod for Oz Series HT Correspondent, Hindustan Times Kolkata, September 20, 2010 Cheteshwar Pujara stands a strong chance to make it to the Indian Test squad for the first time when the selectors meet in Chennai on Monday to pick the 15 for the two-Test series against Australia starting in Chandigarh on Oct. 1. If the Saurashtra batsman is selected and the selectors prefer a second wicketkeeper in the XV ahead of an eighth batsman or fourth medium-pacer, Yuvraj Singh will be dropped from the 16-member Test squad that toured Sri Lanka recently. Suresh Raina stays as the sixth batsman after his impressive debut in Sri Lanka. With Gautam Gambhir having recovered from the knee injury suffered in Sri Lanka, he is set to be recalled. In that case, M. Vijay will also be dropped from the side which went to Sri Lanka if Wriddhiman Saha stays in the squad as second wicketkeeper. Zaheer Khan is also set to be recalled after a shoulder injury forced him out of the Sri Lanka tour. If the selectors keep three medium-pacers in the squad, Ishant Sharma with either of Abhimanyu Mithun or Munaf Patel are likely to be the other two. The spin trio of Harbhajan Singh, Amit Mishra and Pragyan Ojha are expected to be retained. Australia begin their tour with a 3-day match against Board President's XI in Chandigarh from September 25. The second Test is in Bangalore from October 9. This will be followed by 3 ODIs.

I guess selectors might still prefer to see Pujara in tour opener first class game against aussies before selecting him for national duties. That way, he may be called for second test match but first I'm not really sure. About pace attack, isn't Sreesanth fit now? If he is fit then Pace attack should be Zaheer, Sreesanth and Ishant (third choice).

why is PRAVEEN KUMAR not there ,with zaheer struggling after his injury ,ishant struggling for form since last two yers ,he was last in form while playing against aussies, this time I think he gonna be a total waste and about sreesanth we really dont know, only seamer or swing bowler who is form and wears Indian colours is Praveen Kumar and still he doesnt get a look in and excuse given is of pace and if bowlls 128-130 ,then ishant seldom bowls above 134 and along with that has no real skill with the bowl ,in pace bowling looks like total waste and we are dependent on bhajji and ojha and to depend on the former is never a good situation. Coming to batting ,it looks great and very hgappy to see Pujara in the squad

Team looks perfect and balanced for once......no passengers in the team othen then maybe M Vijay. Ishant, Harbhajan and Mishra are probably are weakest link. You can add Sreesanth soon or later :giggle:

Good that they have selected Pujara.. Should be a good learning curve. The team looks good apart from the presence of Ojha..But I do't think there's much option for the 2nd spinner so it's ok,

i am really happy for Pujara. But I dont think he is going to get any chance to be in playing 11. Raina is going to play so no place for Pujara. Anyways being with the big boys is certainly going to help him.
