Seriously, leaves are granted on this day to allow people celebrate his birthday. Does it not sound ridiculous? I mean how many Indians actually go back home and remember him or literally celebrate his birthday so much that they need a whole day off from work? When you shut down all offices for a whole effin day, that is a wastage of a huge sum of money that could be used to feed many starving children. Gandhi himself was a karmyogi and believed in working and we sit back and stop all work on his birthday. Thats an insult to the great leader. MKG has been reduced to a holiday, to pictures on the walls of government offices and even though the man was extraordinary in many ways, what we are doing today on his name is a liability on this country.

It doesnt affect their productivity, in fact it increases it. I actually support more holidays based on nation as a whole than religious ones like the US
