Such people do indeed have a competitive advantage in sport over other females, because their muscles will have been exposed to some male hormones. Re: A female medal winner at asiad found not female enough sort of puts a topic into perspective that has always been pushed under the rug by most international athletics committees: that of the recognition of transgendered or otherwise medically deviant athletes such as those suffering from Dow's syndrome. there was some talk about removing the ambiguity about what category a transgendered athlete must participate under by using a medical threshold. i.e. if the athlete displays characteristics beyond the particular threshold they would be classified as one gender and vice versa. but i guess that was shot down since it violated the fact that some of these athletes would be classified under a category different from their then legally recognized gender... its a huge mess! and the subject is so extraordinary that few are courageous enough to deal with it.
