perfect tournament for the likes of Yousuf, Uthappa, Pandey, Nayar, Manoj Tiwary etc. But the Ranji Trophy matches will also e played around the same time, so not sure if any regular domestic player will go there as a part of this tamasha.

when most of other teams send their top domestic cricketers ,BCCI is adamant on sending retired cricketers for this touramnet,perfect example of paid holidays ,hope this time some good(current) cricketers are sent ,who go there to win and not to enjoy

No. They use plastic balls...got confirmed thanks to an old post from one of our purists who actually had a great time watching this cr@p form of cricket! And they ridicule T20's :hehe: Wicky :icflove:
A couple of weeks ago I found a photo of a cricket club in Hong Kong. A reader, and fellow blogger, Salil Benegal, knew of it and has extensive knowledge of cricket in that region. The following guest-post is from Salil, with accompanying photos The Kowloon Cricket Club lies a good distance away from the heart of the city, on the other side of Victoria Harbour in the Jordan district of Kowloon. The ground is far bigger than the HKCC's, and much better known, annually hosting the Hong Kong Sixes tournament every November. It's the one weekend in the year when the ground's small capacity of a few hundred is filled, mostly with expatriate fans and the odd curious local or sponsor. The Sixes are a six-a-side, five-overs-per-team tournament played with an orange plastic ball that see small teams of youngsters or retired/fringe players from various countries show up. Guests have been fairly high profile though – Hong Kong's had the likes of Moin Khan, Allan Donald, Vinod Kambli and Craig McDermott show up in past years in touring teams. But the Sixes are mainly about the atmosphere and seeing some fun slogging take place, rather than any real promotion for the sport. The small crowds are vociferous, particularly the Indian and Pakistani segments, and there's a fun family atmosphere with good food and players mingling freely with fans.

It is not like this is an ICC tournament. Styris to captain the New Zealand Sixes team New Zealand Cricket today announced the squad to take part in the annual Hong Kong Cricket Sixes tournament at Kowloon Cricket Club. The event starts on Saturday November 6 with the final played on the afternoon of Sunday November 7. Scott Styris will lead the side after successfully recovering from a partial stress fracture that saw him miss the recent tour of Bangladesh. Scott Styris © – Northern Knights Daryl Tuffey – Auckland Aces Nathan McCullum – Otago Volts Carl Frauenstein – Canterbury Wizards Logan van Beek - Canterbury Wizards Harry Boam – Wellington Firebirds Kieran Noema-Barnett – Central Stags Manager Steve Wilkins said: “It’s a really competitive side with a good mix of seasoned campaigners and youthful talent. “Internationals Scott Styris, Daryl Tuffey and Nathan McCullum form the core of the team with experienced domestic players Carl Frauenstein and Kieran Noema-Barnett sure to impress. “The squad also contains two players who represented New Zealand at last year’s Under 19 World Cup in Logan van Beek and Harry Boam who both have exciting futures.” “We will be going there to win but it also provides a decent development opportunity for the younger guys who get to play against and with more experienced cricketers.” New Zealand will compete in the preliminary Sobers Group along with Sri Lanka, Pakistan and India while the other pool, the Bradman group, contains England, Hong Kong, Australia and defending champions South Africa.

And even the Indian team looks poor....Why are countries sending these "fourth" string teams to this tournament? I mean, they can at least send an 'A' Team
