Nothing wrong with the pitch. Just look at how the New Zealand bowlers have bowled in the second innings, all about putting the ball in the right area...Martin has been bowling a Mcgrath line and length in this innings...just keeping it wide enough to make the batsman play at it. If the batsmen are supposed to prove themselves in bowler friendly tracks then the bowlers must also prove themselves on batting friendly tracks.

I don't know about Nagpur. But Hyderabad pitch will be a sportive wicket Helps pace bowler in morning session for first two days. Second and third sessions of first two days helps both the batsmen and bowlers. From there onwards it will be batting wicket. And last day will help spinners as all pitches in India. Batsmen needs to careful If there is extra bounce on wicket.

While Chris Martin bowled good, still 15-5 or 65-6 is an unbelievable collapse by the Indian top order. This was almost like we are facing a raging Malcolm Marshall at Barbados!!! I think the 15-5 is neither the pitch nor Martin becoming Andy Roberts or Marshall. It had a lot to do with the complacent and laidback attitude of the Indian batsmen (and yes, credit to Martin for being accurate and giving his heart and soul). The NZ were humiliated by their 0-4 drubbing and they were hungry like hell to prove themselves. There were "post series reviews" conducted, Mark Greatbatch insulted their players, they were raging and hungry. Our batsmen were complacent and maybe thought NZ cannot do anything, and got PWNED! by C. Martin. So, yes Martin bowled well, but it was mainly crappy batting by the Indians. So, you can say the Indian batsmen took the "pitch out of the equation". Wake up call for the complacency shown by Indian team, but I still hope we get a good pitch that can assist bowlers in Hyderabad and Nagpur. We do need to win the next 2 Tests and win the series!

To be fair, I'll add this quote from the curator: The quote of the day It came from Dhiraj Parsana. He has been copping heat for the last three and a half days over the state of the pitch. He must have thought the press, and perhaps even his own association, was going to bury him under a mound of criticism. Then Chris Martin happened. I really think that our morale was destroyed by the fact that they matched our first innings score. However I am not sure it will be easy for them to chase down 180-200 in the last 2 sessions on this pitch.

Possible. Maybe the Indian team expected NZ to roll over and play dead. Especially given they got McIntosh and Watling cheaply, they thought the rest will fold after the 137-4, but huge fightback from NZ. NZ are not pushovers, and big wakeup call for Indian team.

That is exactly what happened. They really didn't anticipate the fightback and that's because they don't understand the Kiwi sporting culture and their spirit. The fact that such a tiny country with such a small talent pool has managed to hold its own against all odds for so many years should have told India something. They just didn't plan well for this. The issue is mental rather than how the Indian batsmen played or the bowlers bowled. That's all side issues.

Anyway - regarding the thread topic of Hyd and Nagpur - now given this setback, India has to win at those 2 places and win the series. We cannot have a drawn or lost series to NZ. The world will simply ROFL at us and thats shameful. We have to win the next 2 Tests and win the series, just for the fact that we have had the #1 tag for the last 12 months. Absolute must. We have to do whatever it takes (incl. spin pitch or whatever) to win this series now. Worldover, people do create pitches with home team advantage, nothing wrong if we do it in this series.

Yes, in the past - we were used to some rare shocking batting displays in Tests (lowest 76 against South Africa in India), but we have been used to such good batting performances recently, that while something like 10-2 is still imaginable, 15-5 was totally unimaginable since these days we expect some stabilization after a couple of quick wickets. It (this procession of single digit scores) was a Pakistan-like-collapse We are so used to the good batting, that this was like some nightmare. I still dont believe *this* fantastic batting lineup was the one that got into 15-5 in a Test in India. And there was no Dale Steyn bowling yesterday. The 76 all out was also at Ahmedabad! - so if I go along Shakthi's lines, maybe Ahmedabad also is panoti :D BTW - what is Panoti? Does it mean unlucky (unlucky charm)?

Bhai yes Panoti means unlucky honestly even i couldnt believe 15/5 not after such a good score in the first innings if india cant win go for the draw but no way let nz win.

The hallmark of a great team is not how they perform when things are going well, but how they perform, bounce back from difficult situations such as this. Honestly, they have done it so many times in the last 2 - 3 years, I wouldn't put saving this test match, possibly even winning it, beyond this team. What I don't understand is why are we expecting miracles from one player, why can't the result be of a team effort on the last day ?

You are right... But it is first test match(international) in that ground. I hope this time luck will be in Indian side. Our team need to concentrate on strong bowling pairs. Then only we can win the match.
