Andy Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 Agreed . Batting wise --> if we get pujara in place of raina, we have got all bases covered . Bowling wise --> All three seamers in top form, only chink in the armor is bhajji form, maybe lack of forth seam too. Leadership, coaching and conditioning --> top notch This series is going to be the best chance to win in SA in a long long time. Agreed about everything other than Leadership :--D
Ram Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 Not sure about Political connections, May be true. But he performed well in domestic cricket that season and Kaif couldnt grab the NO 6 th spot. Its not 'maybe true'.. It is 100% true. And performing well in domestic cricket? Not even close.. And yes, I meant the 2004/05, 'final frontier' series in India.

Here are the stats of the 'Few' matches he played. http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/records/averages/batting_bowling_by_team.html?id=2664;team=1623;type=tournament http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/records/averages/batting_bowling_by_team.html?id=2832;team=1623;type=tournament

Andy Posted November 26, 2010 Author Posted November 26, 2010 Ganguly's return against SA in 2006 probably you are the only one. If you want to dig out the truth you can make a seperate thread asking people for their opinion and will be proven wrong about me being 'Only one'.

And listene to me kid, if you have some weird identity complex that forces you to be the solo-spokesperson for all Bengalis and defend anything and everything that is being said against Bengalis, then please help yourself. I cannot be bothered to waste my time on such stupidity. I exactly know what happened in 2006 and how Ganguly made his way back into the team. I am not even saying what he did was inappropriate, but stating the facts. If you cannot live with them, go find something better to do.

WTF :hysterical::hysterical::hysterical::hysterical: How does Bongs come into this? We are talking about a Player and i have thrown all the stats possible at you. If you can please find me "ALL" the performances. Offcourse i would like to see some of your claims of him not performing in domestic cricket backed by stats. And Sourav Ganguly was an Indian cricketer, dont throw up regional discrimination among the posters by equating this with a Bong Talking on the behalf of another Bong. Its not a matter of 'Bong' or a 'marathi' or even a 'Punjabi', i would have said the same thing for any Indian cricketer be it from any region and religion. Dont make Regional discrimination here. What made you assume am talking on Behalf of Bengalis? Do you do the same thing when its the case of Tamils? I think am on Indian Cricket Forum where we discuss indians, not each cricketers who the posters represent being from their State. Got it Son? And please give some instances that forced me to be the solo-spokesperson for all Bengalis and defend anything and everything that is being said against Bengalis on this board. Didnt expect such a poor post from such a Top Quality poster.

I am asking for stats after the time in which he was dropped from the Indian team and you're posting numbers that include the 100s he made in FC cricket, even while he was still in the Indian team. :hysterical: The 300 odd runs he scored in the 2005/06 Ranji trophy, ALL of it was made BEFORE he was dropped from the team, which makes them EXTREMELY relevant of course. ::haha:
Ram Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 Didn't he like say that he may or may not have political connections? He just gave the proof for him doing fine in the domestic circuit, that's all. Don't see the 'weird complex' in that? :hmmm: Proof? What proof? After Ganguly was dropped after the 2005/06 tour to Pakistan, he failed to do much in the lone Ranji trophy match he played in the 2006/07 season and pretty much came empty handed in the Challenger trophy played in October 2006, which is where you see some of the top quality Indian bowling. He did score a 100 in the Duleep trophy against TN, but that was pretty much and even there, he was outscored by a half a dozen other guys.
Andy Posted November 26, 2010 Author Posted November 26, 2010 Yes' date=' some 'stats' it is, that you have posted. In the 2005-06 Statistics we have all the matches where Bengal have featured from Nov 23-26, 2005 to Jan 20-24, 2006 and in the 2006-2007 statistics we have all the Matches which Bengal featured from Nov 23-25, 2006. By that time SCG was called in to the team so 2006-2007 statistics are irrelevant in this matter. But the 2005-06 statistics have all the matches after he was dropped from the Team. And his average was 102 and 16 with the ball. :dontknow:
Sachin=GOD Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 probably you are the only one. I also don't think the leadership is top notch.
Sid Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 There you Go' date=' Ganguly was dropped from the series against Sri Lanka no? He made his way back for the Pakistan series but it was short lived, he was dropped again.[/quote'] He played in the SL series but was dropped for the 3rd test match at Ahmedabad
