Tapped ball :two_thumbs_up: personally I enjoy playing with the taped ball more than the real ball. It's gives you the feeling of playing with the real ball but without having to wear all the gears. You gotta try the real ball cricket to get the real feeling of the game so called cricket. It's a whole new feeling :hatsoff:
For whatever reason i cannot pick up line and length of tennis balls at all...must be the color blindness....

You mean the 'cricket grade' tennis balls or the lighter ones... When I was in school..the lighter ones were a nighmare to be facing as a batter..a slight wind would create the banana swing..

If you are talking about the real "tennis ball" that they use to play tennis then it's alright. You are not colorblind. It's quite challenging to play the light tennis ball as it swirls around in the air and slows down quite a bit plus it has it's unique bounce to it. Tapped ball is a whole different thing though. You tape a light tennis ball with electric tape and then make a seam on it. This gives it a hard shell much like the real cricket ball which has a rubber or metal ball inside of it with lather coating on the outside. The tapped ball has very similar bounce as the real ball plus it's traveling distance and trajectory in the air is also very similar to that of the real ball. Picture of a tapped cricket ball with a seam. taped-ball.jpg I am not a huge fan of the cricket style hard tennis balls. I have played a lot with them but they are just not meant for cricket. While we are at it, if anyone recalls playing with very hard plastic balls with those road side 50 rupees bats. Those were a lot of fun to play with.

lol..Those balls made a deafening sound on bouncing. Bounced more, hurt fingers many times.

At a wild swing, the ball traveled at the speed of a spacecraft:haha:

Bowling - right arm off spin, with carom ball and seam ball as variations, can bowl rapid off breaks or loopy slow stuff according to the situation. Here and there bowl right arm gentle medium banana inswingers as well. Best bowling 53/7 against Combined England University XI at PSS (Division 2 match in SL) in 3 day stuff and 33/5 in limited overs stuff. Batting - A rabbit. But doesn't mind taking few on the body, and regarded as much more gritty than 8 - 10 of the team. Has once opened the batting and scored 45* off four and half hours, carrying the bat at Radella on a pace bowling paradise. Other than that had been useless with the bat in limited over format. Fielding - awful. Most of the time despite being a very penetrative off spinner I lost my place to better fields men who were lesser bowlers than me,.

Anyone here bat without a 'family jewels guard'..against a proper red cherry I always end up forgetting to take it from home..
Even with that it's an ouchful experience. Believe me, got hit from he quickest bowler of my team (bowling in upper 130s when tail up) , nearly flattened me. But was humor for the bastards from the fielding side and the one batting at the other end.

Although i hate the chance I am taking:nervous:.

Upper middle order batsman - Right Hand. The pull comes very naturally to me and its me favorite shot - learned it from Rahul Dravid :D in 1989...I was 12 and playing in the U-13 and U-16 nets then. Rahul was around 16 but already playing in the Seniors nets. He used to coach us kids. Right arm fast medium - Very good swing I'd get and no bragging but although I am not a very tall 6+ chap I could extract very good bounce...mainly because I could land the ball on the seam...my wrist position was really a wonderful asset which helped me keep the seam so straight (what u notice in Sreesanth's bowling today and Kapil's, McGrath's bowling back in the early 90s). We had this Leo Toy Gun which had a dismantled bottle (target). The center part of the bottle was slightly wider than the seam of a cricket ball. So I cut it to that size and would practice bowling that plastic thing which helped me invariably land the ball on the seam. Any young fellows there, if u wanna learn to bowl on the seam and maintain that amazing wrist position then this is the best way...take a thick rubber lump and shape it such that it it is about an inch wide and maybe an inch thick with a nice hollow...diameter around the size of a ball...basically like the shape 'O' Keep carrying this around with you wherever u go and play with it...automatically ur wrist will learn to hold it such that it pitches on the surface of the O hence when u use the cricket ball, the surface of the O will be the seam of the ball. I played U-16 for the State, for my college side in Pune and Corporate Team in Bangalore. Crazy incident - ran away from home in 94...was 16/17 then...coz I wanted to become cricketer but parents wanted me to do Engg. Went to Nagpur...me and friend...attended Nagpur nets selection, the coach said we will make it to the U-19 Vidharba team and that my friend will also make it to the Vidharba Ranji side. After 3 days, money over, no food, no place to stay...go back home :(( to Pune. Parents happy to have me back but still south indians in the 90s - how can they ever think of anything other than Engg or Medical...LOL!
