But we got a lot form the English too, especially the game of cricket and that country is filled with foreigners now. India will take a long time to establish anything for others sports, but the interest has to be injected..now, its nothing but cricket

Commonwealth games is a joke' date=' we didnt even send out top athletes as it will mess up their training plan.[/quote'] What about Cricket World Cup, the one that's being played since 1975. Do your best players complete there? :woot:

Football,Rugby,Basketball,Volleyball,Cycling,Athletics,Swimming,Shooting,Boxing, Weightlifting,Wrestlinq,TT,Badminton,Squash,Rowing,Diving,Tennis,Snooker,Golf, Gymnastics,Archery-England is light years ahead of India Cricket-England considerably ahead(if you include past accomplishments i.e) Hockey-India>>>>>>>>>Eng(past accomplishments included) Chess-Anand=one of the greatest of all time Humpy=2nd greatest female player of all time India comfortably ahead and btw players like Anand are born once in a generation. So even if we stop playing chess for another 30 years,Eng may still not produce a player of half his calibre. Billiards-India comfortably ahead Kabbadi-India is invincible.

Chess is not a sport....
This is debatable. Chess is a recognized sport by the International Olympic Committee. It might not be a physical sport but that does not mean other skills don't come into play.

If chess is a sport then so is scrabble, rock paper scissors, video gaming etc.

just because you've not heard their names, what they play is not a sport but a game - good logic!!

I have never heard of those names' date=' nor will anyone else in England. Chess is not a sport its a game.[/quote'] Chess today is a recognized sport of the International Olympic Committee. The organized competition, the fact that the game is entirely dependant upon skill, the fact that people have been known to lose 2-5 pounds after a particularly intense chess match, the fact that people who are younger and are in better shape have a physical advantage over the old and feeble because they can withstand the hours of sitting completely still in a chair for up to 5 hours while concentrating intensely, and the fact that it is very popular and is played throughout the world nullifies your claim. A game involves more than one person and a sport pertains to only an individual’s skills and performance. So chess is a sport. In Eastern Europe,Russia,China and other former Soviet Union Countries like Armenia,Serbia,Azerbejan etc chess is the most popular sport, even more popular than football.By an estimate 95% people of Serbia know how to play chess and in Russia,75% people know who the world champion is.Chess is 100 times more popular than cricket around the world. The Chess Olympiad comes 2nd only to the Summer Olympics in terms of no of participating countries. Many know the Fischer's,Kasparov's,Karpov's and Anand's as good as we know the Bradman's and Sachin's. Ask any knowledgeable American to list his country's top 5 sporting accomplishments and I am sure most will mention Fischer's cold war win over Spassky in 1972,Iceland right at the top.In fact chess was a major weapon along with space technology which the Soviet Union used as a state policy to get bragging rights over other countries in the cold war era.

what physical exertion does F1 driving require ?
Actually quite a lot. They require rigorous physical training. The G forces are strong enough to snap a man's neck while making sharp corners at a high speed.

During the game there isn't physical exertion but to prepare for a game you need physical training.Anand does kickboxing, jogging and cycling to keep himself fit.Fischer and Karpov were amateur tennis players.Kasparov jogged for 10 miles everyday before a game and at his peak(1999) he did 302 consecutive pushups.Quite some physical exertion heh!!!!
