CG Posted December 29, 2010 Author Posted December 29, 2010 What does India do in any sport that isnt cricket? football is to england what cricket is to india .its our main sport.Be it tennis, hockey, football, cricket england are not at top in any major teamsport currently.
Raghav_12 Posted December 29, 2010 Posted December 29, 2010 I think our olympic gold medalists' date=' heavy weight world champion boxers, ashes/ T20 Wc winners and Rugby WC winners are better than anything India has produced.[/quote'] It's not about comparing with India - in fact there is no comparison between India and UK in terms of sporting achievements. But it is widely recognized fact, world over, that English media overhypes it's team and players across all sports. Not a better example than the hype created around Andy Murry (who is not even English for the matter of fact). If you follow english media around any grand slam, you would tend to believe that Murray is ahead of both Nadal and Federer. Same media pinned Tim Henman to win Wimbledon for years. This trend goes for other sports like Soccer, Cricket as well. However, in relation to this thread, I would say at the moment England is one among the top three test teams of worls cricket.

Tennis is pretty gay so forgot Murray, we even have one of the top tennis players in the world although nobody likes him. Oh and the best golfer in the world. AND 2 recent F1 world champs... We are pound for pound the greatest sporting nation in the world.

F1? are u ****ing serious? its not even a sport. top golfer? lee westwood hasnt done even 1/4th of what tiger woods has done in golf... your footballers embarrass themselves at the world cup and euros every 2 years, much to the delight of the entire world, your rugby team is a scrap heap compared to the saffies and aussies
Serani Posted December 29, 2010 Posted December 29, 2010 Really cutting deep considering India have one gold medal in olympic shooting, hilarious that a nation so big can be so poor at any athletic activity barring cricket. Im not a chav, you dont know me, im more intelligent and educated than you. Your probably scrouging benefits like the Pakis you oh so hate.
Manny_Pacquiao Posted December 29, 2010 Posted December 29, 2010 Really cutting deep considering India have one gold medal in olympic shooting' date=' hilarious that a nation so big can be so poor at any athletic activity barring cricket.[/quote'] england have all the resources in the world, yet the only olympic sport they can compete at is CYCLING and sailing lololol...ther only sports u guys can ever dominate is darts and snooker...:hysterical: u guys invented all the major sports and are **** at every single one. thats pretty embarrassing.

yoda Posted December 29, 2010 Posted December 29, 2010 Please be relevant to the topic of this thread. It's not about who is the greatest sporting nation but it is about the England cricket team. Create a separate thread in chit chat for other discussions. Is one of your 2011 goals to make this a boring place? :winky:

Chill dude.. nobody is claiming that India is superior to England in sports.. in btw - India has world champion in Chess and had got more Gold Medals than England is last commonwealth games :-)
Nova Posted December 29, 2010 Posted December 29, 2010 Is one of your 2011 goals to make this a boring place? :winky: Have fun here. :--D What's the point in discussing this in cricket talk? Derails the entire thread if England is the best cricket team.
Rajiv Posted December 29, 2010 Posted December 29, 2010 I am not sure how these 2 even compared? we don't have that sporting culture at all and if anything, it revolves around cricket only. You are grown up to be educated and follow the same path of job, marriage, fear of god and taking care of parents. The Concept of any sport is picked when you are a kid, and we have ZERO or minimum facilities for fitness or any other sport. There is no thrill, money or desire so how the heck you gonna create athletes? Compare other fields but except cricket, forget about any other ball game
flamy Posted December 29, 2010 Posted December 29, 2010 no contest. india is not a sporting nation :dontknow:
Serani Posted December 29, 2010 Posted December 29, 2010 http://www.cwgdelhi2010.org/medal-tall #2 in gold, one more than England. :winky: Commonwealth games is a joke, we didnt even send out top athletes as it will mess up their training plan.
Sir john Posted December 29, 2010 Posted December 29, 2010 I know only one thing we are better than eng in sports,as i experience during commonwealth games. eng sports person gets good facility and training for every event,
Sir john Posted December 29, 2010 Posted December 29, 2010 In some of our cities sports infrastructure is very good. haryana is far better than other states in sports. haryana players gets most medals
Serani Posted December 29, 2010 Posted December 29, 2010 If people try and argue that India is better than England at sports on the basis of the Commonwealth games I think I will probably have a heart attack from laughing so much,
