Anyone here appreciating Dravid?

Based on what, very few of his bad looking dismissals. I posted this earlier and I will do it again. In all his test innings so far, he has got out only once to short pitched stuff, if you check out the dismissals. How did he score his initial big scores, where all the bowlers knew about his supposed weakness when he made his debut. The same forum praised him to the tilt and for his temperament as well. honestly, how many new gen Indian players are really comfortable against quality short pitched bowling. Even the bigwigs struggle to cope up with that. This Pujara guy didnt exactly do a Ponting pull.
What? You are arguing that Raina has not been found out because he got out just once against short pitch bowling? Is that seriously your argument? Short pitch bowling by itself might not bring wickets, but due to Raina's vulnerability he sits on the back foot anticipating the short ball and limiting his foot movement. So he becomes very prone to nicking the full or length ball into the slips cordon because he is not able to get to the pitch of the deliveries. Not being comfortable against the short ball does not mean that his dismissal will be to a short ball. Hughes is going through the same problem. Moreover, Raina has not helped his case by playing a few Umar Akmal type shots to get out in a few innings. Opening questions on his temperament as well.

Nope, I just brought that fact for highlighting the perception that even you can have. Offcourse I agree he should work on that, but its quite wrong to easily dismiss him for that thing. He has got some many pro's which goes unrecognized. How well he played the spinners against SL. And he has scored and scored big.

Who is dismissing him? But, at the same time it's not right to keep on playing him when such an obvious weakness in his game has been exposed that even NZ bowlers on Indian pitches were able to get him out that way. He is still in the squad and is presumably working with the coaching staff on it. What's wrong in the likes of Pujara and Kohli getting their share of chances while he improves his game?

Many here have I feel he should have got more chances before he was dropped. I never questioned any other player getting a chance. I would like to see as many quality young players come up soon into that batting lineup. I was only laughing at some of the Che-fanatics who went berserk and proclaimed him as 100xRaina. Against NZ, more than getting worked out, he played Umar Akmal kind of shots. as a request, lets get this discussion moved somewhere rather than derail a Dravid appreciation thread :)
