Anyone here appreciating Dravid?

Guy has got a lot of flak for his lack of runs in this series but you have to say he played a big part today after Gambhir in bailing us out. He came in pretty early and then really upped his game - he was not at all tentative and was very solid in defence. Clearly he is not in form but he did his job and really blunted everything they threw at him. This was not at all a easy pitch to play on.

I do appreciate him. Briliant Innings that, But still not half as good what he is capable of. We are in big trouble finding a Replacement of this Rahul Dravid who is half not good what he used to be.

I dont think he is grossly out of form. Just that he is losing judgement outside the off stump far too frequently. So his stays at the crease are getting shorter and shorter.

dravid is useless if he cant score on these overseas tours the only rationale behind picking him is so he can use his superior technique and temperament to combat fast bowling outside the subcontinent. but when he cant even manage a single fifty on tour, whats the point the guy is finished. play pujara at 3, he shows the same defensive solidity that dravid and has more scoring shots. but this takes balls and u cant leave out an indian legend against his will...dhoni should remember what he did when he got control of the ODI team in australia bakc in 2008. back your young players, captain.

And what exactly has Pujara done yet to replace Dravid @ #3 ? Unless somebody shows results at the position they are played at, they do not deserve being promoted to a higher position, replacing a legend more so.

wtf do u want him to do?? LOL he has made stacks of runs in FC, scored 72 on debut against AUS on a 5th day pitch and even tho he didnt make runs in SA he showed good technique and even earned praise from the mindnumbingly biased SA commentators. dravid hasnt done squat to retain his place in the side. give me pujara any day.

Nothing succeeds like success ... he can have better technique than almighty god, but if he hasn't scored runs, in my books he is not qualified to replace somebody who hasn't either (even though Dravid still has scored more runs than him). His stake at #3 can only be justified when he has scored runs at the position he has batted yet. Look, I want the guy to succeed and be a worthy replacement for Dravid ... but again the keyword here is "worthy", and he has to show the results for that.

I hope you mean 'DONT' If not I would like to know who that replacement is

Yes' date=' he did look much more assertive in his movements today. Good sign! We [b']do have a replacement for him yet. So play on!

wtf has he done, that's a better question Apart from that 'highly overrated' one innings (against a battered aussie attack) he has achieved zilch so far. Oh yeah, Great technique to score those astounding scores. Remarkable achievements. Or I forgot 100 times better than Raina :hysterical:

he has played 3 tests. and name 1 debutant u have seen who played that kind of innings on a wearing 5th day pitch. pujara did look 100 times better than raina in this series...raina just gives catching practice and is horrendous against the short ball. he is a walking wicket in test matches

Dravid has been scratching around for quite some time now. He did decent today but we needed more from him on this tour. Time for him to think and plan his way out. But in any case should be allowed to go on his own terms.

Do we need an appreciation thread for every individual player in the team?
This is a culture being copied from a passionatley rotten hole where every tom, dick, and harry has an appreciation thread, a support thread, and a sack thread. And of course a prayer thread.
