MICHAEL Clarke had his pre-game press conference ambushed by a teenager offering him batting tips yesterday but the defiant stand-in captain will not change the way he plays despite being jeered by fans in Melbourne last Sunday. Clarke, who endured a horror run during the Ashes and was criticised for his slow scoring rate in the series-opener, was given advice by the gatecrasher on how he could break his form slump. Told he was pushing at the ball too much and playing in front of his body, a jovial Clarke asked what he should be doing and was instructed to ''play in front of your nose and under your eyes and not be reaching for it too much''. While captaining his country in a Test for the first time was a positive, it came amid a lean run with the bat which yielded just 193 runs at 21.44 during the Ashes. Last Sunday he suffered the ignominy of being a captain jeered on home soil just days after copping a stinging public rebuke from Cricket Australia chief James Sutherland for showing a ''supreme lack of judgment'' by attending a charity function on the morning of a game.

Clarke isn't even test captain yet and barely ODI captain and already being spit roasted by all quarters!

Clarke, though has scored around 5000 runs but IMO he was very good at best. Apart from his first series he really did never set the world on fire. Agreed he has about 16 100's but I have never fancied him specially against the quick bowlers. He was really opened up in 2005 Ashes and now again. He's an excellent player against spin bowling but then again, he had a horrendous series against India. Somehow I don't like his attitude as well. He appears to be too happy go lucky types and captaining an aussie side requires real tough men specially at this point of time.

Nothing wrong with a younger person to teach an older person ... It's like back in school when teacher makes a mistake and the students corrects the teacher! But Clark being a bit arrogant is stupid IMO.
