Sachinism Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 Hopefully someone can help me out 2 weeks ago when I switched on my PC, it froze up on me at the login screen Since then I've been busy and only got round to sorting it out today. Went into safe mode, ran AVG and malwarebytes and cleared up whatever i could, still had issues, so did a system restore and no luck there either So I reformated the HD and reinstalled XP. Everything was working fine till I installed the drivers for my graphic card (GeForce 7100 GS) and restarted the PC where I encountered the same issues as earlier. Reformated again, with a fresh install, this time I kept getting 'write delay failed' errors when I was installing motherboard drivers. (Could be motherboard issues???) So I pulled out a new HD and installed XP Installed the drivers - get to login screen and same issue P.S. One other thing, originally I had a dodgy copy of Windows and the comp froze when the Windows Genuine Advatage notification came up I still (on the new HD) have a dodgy copy, but I don't get that message, but when I logged in I had another application/window pop up and that caused the comp to freeze
Sachinism Posted May 24, 2011 Author Posted May 24, 2011 OK no updates. I haven't bothered with my PC since this day, anyway spoke to someone they're saying its a RAM issue. Don't know if anyone can confirm this as a possibility before I splash out on RAM

Also what is the amount of RAM in your system ? if you're using Two or more sticks of ram ,then use pc with one stick at a time and see how it goes . http://www.memtest.org/ Did you installed the latest drivers for Graphics Card ?

DomainK Posted May 24, 2011 Posted May 24, 2011 My PC was also freezing while booting. I called an engineer and he said that my graphic card was getting too hot. He installed an extra fan and presto!
zaheer Posted May 24, 2011 Posted May 24, 2011 You must be having an inbuilt graphics card.. Try booting with that.
