http://www.indianexpress.com/news/Bespoke-pitches-for-Team-India/751172 To give the Indian players the home advantage, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has instructed all venue curators to prepare wickets to the liking of skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni. It is reliably learnt that the BCCI secretary and president-elect N Srinivasan told World Cup venue curators in a meeting last week in Chennai to heed to requests from the team management when it comes to preparation of wickets before India games. “We have been told to prepare wickets as per the team’s request. If the team wants a turner we will give such a wicket and if they want it flat we’ll do that. It is a question of home advantage,†a curator, who attended the meeting said on condition of anonymity. India is scheduled to play only one away game — the opener against Bangladesh in Dhaka, while the rest of their games will be played at home. “The host country always has an advantage and we are just making the most of it. After all our players should get the benefit of playing at home. There is no harm in giving our team that extra benefit,†a top BCCI official said. BCCI secretary Srinivasan, was unavailable for comment. ------------ lets hope Dhoni understands the pitch that will help us against different teams.Flat wickets against sub continent teams and tracks which assist the spinners against others would be the way to go.

India winning/not winning the world cup will make billions of dollars of difference to Indian Corporates/IPL teams/BCCI Babus pockets
Not really. WC is governed by ICC. BCCI has nothing to do with it other than providing grounds and sharing the profits like the other 13 teams. A good Indian campaign means that, apart from rise in viewership this time (which star-espn has got) and ticket sales (SF and Finals will be sold out irrespective of India), it is the players that will end up with the riches in the short run. In the long run, ICC will charge more for TV rights for the next WC, BCCI more next time TV rights come up for auction and both will be met by TV companies that will sell ads for even more. But this will happen irrespective of how India does because the WC loss/win will be forgotten by the time next WC comes around. In the meantime, we would have had 4 IPLs, 4 CLs, 2 T20 WC, 3 Aussies series, 2 SA series and a lot more. Look at 2007 WC and how that affected money matters.

 Why can't Mr Srinivasan keep mum, what does he have to announce it to the whole world? It is obvious that home team gets the pitch it wants, but announcing this media raises eyebrows unnecessarily.
