Good for us he's working with Cricket Australia :winky: Hiring Chappell was one of the worst decision made by BCCI and India paid for it dearly by getting knocked out of 2007 world cup in the group stages.

On the other hand Chappell knows no bounds and strikes everywhere till he gets the cricket team on its knees. Chappell being associated with Australian cricket should be enough reason for Australia not being the favorites this world cup

Remember how Steve Waugh was thrown out and Ian Healy was "persuaded" to retire?. Their cricketing culture does not value experience as we do. And that has worked well for them.

Well not entirely correct... Steve Waugh was forced to quit because of abundance of talent waiting in line at that time. E.g., guys like Hodge, Martyn Love, Hussey, Stuart Law etc. couldn't even get into the team and the team had players like Langer, Hayden, Ponting, Gilchrist, Martyn etc. at the time to cover for Waugh. And as for Healey they had Gilchrist waiting in line to get his turn and he had already played a few matches as a specialist batsman before Healey was forced to go. It's not as if Aussies always had that policy. They played Border till he was near 40 and would have done the same to Rodney Marsh or Dennis Lillee. Even now they will not kick out Ponting even though he's 36 and has lost 3 Ashes series as a captain. If this had happened a few years back I suspect they would have made Ponting retire. And now the aussies are so desperate they would even willingly accept a 42 year old spinner (Warne) into their team with open arms.

pensionplan Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 I think the only master stroke GC pulled during his over all tenure as a coach or an administrator thus far since the time he took over as the coach of the Indian cricket team is to kick out an off color Ganguly from the Indian team towards the end of 2005. Apart from that I did not see or recollect any thing that is worthy enough of the man while he was/is at the helm of affairs.

He was injured for sure but still was persisted with. But that's actually that. He was responsible for creating an inharmonious environment.
