Tape Ball Cricket

I was just wondering from seeing posts over the last couple of weeks of the lack of tape-ball exposure to Indians, possibly other Sub-Continent countries too, have any of you played tape-ball cricket? Never heard of it? Why did it not blossom in India? Is it now on the rise? tapedball.jpg

Isn't it tough to play with the tennis ball? Crazy bounce and hard to bowl quick?
You have nailed it. Fast bowling is a hard work. If you are lazy and dont want to put in effort you will never become 90mph bowler and average 25 in test cricket.

never played with hard ball in pakistan..it was always tapeball and its about 12 yers since i first started playing with hard ball.. still play tape ball and was surprise when first started playing with my indian friends using tennis ball with tape and this was something they had never exp...they love it just as much now.. tape ball is all about bowling fast..anyone and everyone get hit for sixes..just the other day we were chasing 137 in 7 overs ...ended up losing by 4 runs

tape ball bowling is all about arm-speed..the more whippy your action - the more weird trajectory the ball takes..especially bowling into the wind. It effectively conditions bowlers to work up decent pace. Transitioning to leather balls after this is the ideal setting to develop pacers.

because people could afford an actual ball.
I've seen countless instances of cheap-ass tennis balls being used in the grounds... simple act of running some tape over it would do the trick. or are we too lazy to even do that..:hmmm:

Is ir true all kids in India at school & home play cricket with just a tennis ball??
most of the 2-hour ad-hoc games are played with tennis balls(school level).. and if you are a "seam-up" bowler..chances are you'll be going for plenty in your overs..

In place of condoms evidently
funny because that dodgey 'ball' you posted looks a lot like one which has been strung with used condoms. clearly you can afford them.
