Can love for cricket be accquired?

Is it possible for nations which are not known for the number of followers of cricket be expected to turn into cricket crazy nations? Most current associate nations in the world cup are not traditional cricket loving countries. The sports which are popular in these nations like Netherlands (Soccer), Canada (Ice Hockey) and Ireland (Rugby I think) are far faster and physical than cricket and people often get bored watching a game for 8 hours. So is the game expected to generate enough interest for marketers and young kids to turn up and support it whole heartedly?

No. Sports are tied to the national identitiy and culture, and as such, hard to transplant elsewhere without those roots.

I cannot agree. Pretty sure basketball is more known. You go to schools of most countries, you are likely to find basketball fans and more importantly a ground for basketball.
