You can't just go below your home and do Karate on the streets, like you do for cricket. I think kids pushing their kids towards martial arts are the types who think it necessary to keep their kids 'occupied' doing something during vacations or free time and are not the relatively less strictly parented.[/ Yep, and those that take dance classes too.

Ya I guess you may be partially right about this. Parents these days pay emphasis on physical fitness for their kids. This may probably also be compounded by the fact that avenues for physical activities are limited for today's kids. I am speaking from my experience as a child growing up in the streets of Shillong. Martial arts trainers were a dime a dozen there. If you wanted to learn it was up to you to push your parents for the fees and the permission. And I found most parents including mine reluctant.

He was the boxing equivalent of Inzi. Just on the thinner side. What I think is 'lazy' is looking down one sport to glorify another. Vijender doesn't have to call other sports lazy to make boxing look good. He could beat Inzi in a race, stands no chance in a boxing ring though.:D

Ok so India only has one World Cup, look at football, Holland have never won the world cup, Spain only just won their first one and both are football mad countries. Whilst I rate boxers, it is quite a barbaric sport, at the end of the day you are just trying to inflict pain on someone else, lots of people have died or got brain damage, look at Muhammad Ali. If he wants to raise the profile of boxing in India he should go professional and get a proper World title. Also another big factor as to why cricket is more popular than boxing is because cricket is a team sport. Team sports are always more popular than solo sports. But I do agree that Indian players are treated with too much reverence.

Yeps, one cant even eat properly while watching a boxing match. I remember having food while watching CWG boxing, not good.:D
