Dhoni has been batting awfully

My concern about Dhoni's batting yesterday was not about him getting out so soon' date=' [b']but the timing of it all and the fact that he was looking so obviously anxious to get started. We were still in a relatively good position at that point, and if Dhoni had just focused on running between the wickets like he did in the earlier matches, we wouldn't have suffered from that momentary palpitation. He seemed to be conscious of his own poor form with the bat and in a hurry to get a good score; I think it got to him, which is ironic considering he's supposed to have a cool head. God forbid if Raina had also got out soon after, Dhoni would've been the one to blame for the collapse.
Agree but lets hope he comes good against Pakistan he does well against them so hope its going to be a Mahi special

:agree: He's got a good record against Pak :winky: Hopefully his jalwa will come to the fore on Wednesday, though I don't want our batting to come down to that stage!

As long as we are winning...I don't think we should complain. Dhoni is at his best at no 3 or 4 and unfortunately he will not get to bat at that slot as long as Gambhir and Kohli are in the team. A few yrs ago he and Yuvi used to tease the opponents by easily finishing off the matches while chasing but running the ones and twos and frustrating the opponents. Dhoni is 1 knock away from getting back to form and something tells me we will see a quick fire innings from him against Pak. It was really good on his part to promote Yuvi up the order in the match against Eng...It helped Yuvi and made Indian batting stronger...If only he had promoted himself up the order against one of the minnows, he might have got his mojo back.

Dhoni has been in poor form with the bat by his high standards. But I do think he's the kind of player that is capable of turning it around very quickly. As long as he is still doing a good job as captain and wicket keeper (which he is) then him batting well will just be a bonus. But right now we need him more as a captain and wicket keeper than a solid batsmen since our top 5 have been in such good form.
