One is haunted by a defeat when the opposing team snatches victory from the jaws of defeat which is what Miandad did. An easy victory which you point out or the countless ones Pakistan has had over the years against India due to their superior test and odi record, does not haunt the other team as much Yeah we were so "haunted" that we kept thrashing you in World Cup games. Do you people even understand what the **** you blabber on about?

A ball earlier or over earlier would not have been that bad. Also.. not just against Pakistan.. losing any match against any team coming that close would shatter me. I still remember how Balaji was smoted for 6 by Brett lee when India almost won an ODI in Australia. It was dramatic because it had not been done earlier. Just as the first tied test, or the first tied one day international, would always remain huge milestones. Nobody would recall how many LOIs have been Tied till date, or close, but the first few people do. This game was stellar because Pakistan won from all chips down, and the manner in which it was won, last ball six had never been done before. No need to deride as mere "drama". Sure it was drama but it also substance and history behind it. But saying that it would leave scar for your life is an overstatement in my view. That match was anything but something that will be haunting you for the rest of your life. Some come up with weird theory that India carried that scar for 10 years or so. How anyone could carry the scar for 10 years if you are not even part of it. India beat Pakistan in 1992 world cup, 1996 world cup. They were still going about that six. Fun is they are still going on about that six. Some of the guys were not even born to see that six. I doubt any educated fans think that way. A moronic fan, on Indian side or Pakistani, will always come up with something like that. Did that win affect Indian team? Probably. I mean with games like this it does make you wonder as a team what else you could possibly do. Thats just human nature. However would it rankle a professional team for 10 years, or more? I doubt it. More so because the players who played changed, not to mention that India also won fair amount on game over next 10 years. So no I dont buy it. But to put that game down because of fans is preposterous. From an Indian fans perspective, specially those who were able to watch era of 80s, this loss as well as Calcutta loss thanks to Salim Malik's assault on Kapil would rank the highest. xxx

I enjoy test cricket lot more but some LOI losses stand out for me. All things considered none rankled more than 1987 WC semis loss to England. We should have won that and the team that we had we should have been the champion in the end. So that hurt bad, more so when someone like Gooch just swept us off, literally. People gather around and watch together munching something. 50 runs in 10 overs with 5 wickets to go should have been a cakewalk. We bungled up pretty badly. Pretty much all teams that lose go through that feeling. But Pakistan's loss to Australia made lot of guys happy :cantstop: . Especially when Bruce Reid sent Miandad's wicket cartwheeling.. what a sight that was.

In 1996 they said time for revenge...their bowlers are junk...........What happened...Revenge was postponed to 1999..then they postponed revenge to 2003........then again postponed to 2007 t20 Wcup final.......then revenge was postponed to 2011 WCSF......now postponed to 2015...........and in 2015 will be postponed to 2019.
