vaibhav_delhi Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 Sachin has 9k more runs and a considerably better ODI SR Kallis has 335 more wkts and 46 more catches. Another way saying is that(probably not entirely accurate), kallis has accumulated nearly an equally great overall record(in terms of total runs, wkts , catches, SR in ODIs) while playing only arnd 74-75% of sachin.
vaibhav_delhi Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 Thank Lord for the small mercies of life. Unfortunately I still dont get to thank lord for people wanting to appreciate a few points below:((: I agree that Kallis has had to face a few hostile fast bowlers less during his career but would like you to appreciate a few points: 1. Kallis has played a large part of his cricket in SA where conditions are less batsmen friendly than here in india (where sachin has played a largest chunk of his cricket.) 2. I have always considered kallis as a better batsman than sachin under pressure situations in test cricket. Some stats to back this up: Kallis has 1st innings avg of 55.80 and 2nd innings avg of 60.51: http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/player/45789.html?class=1;template=results;type=batting 3. Its tough for SA batsmen to play quality spin in the subcontinent (same way the indian batsmen struggle relatively in seam n bounce conditions). Kallis has an impressive avg of 58.66 in india/sl/pak. http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/player/45789.html?class=1;filter=advanced;opposition=6;opposition=7;opposition=8;orderby=default;template=results;type=batting
Sid Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 And the battle between Bossbhai and Vaibhav is hotting up,responses are getter bigger with every post We will resume again after a short break
The Outsider Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 Who is the greater cricketer - Warne or Pollock? Warne : Test Bowling average : 25.41 Test Batting average : 17.32 ODI Bowling average : 25.73 ODI Batting average : 13.05 Pollock : Test Bowling average : 23.11 Test Batting average : 32.31 ODI Bowling average : 24.50 ODI Batting average : 26.45 Now, vaibhav go back to your 'neutral' cricket forum and create a new poal (Warne or Pollock) - also let Wisden know what idiots they were to pick Warne over Pollock as one of the cricketers of the century. :hysterical:
Sachin=GOD Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 Sachin has 9k more runs and a considerably better ODI SR Kallis has 335 more wkts and 46 more catches. Another way saying is that(probably not entirely accurate), kallis has accumulated nearly an equally great overall record(in terms of total runs, wkts , catches, SR in ODIs) while playing only arnd 74-75% of sachin. vaibhav_delhi Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 Lol....I knew it was too much to ask for people to appreciate the points crediting kallis in post#89. Anyways, If you read post#88, it suggests: If kallis had made debut in 1989 (alongside sachin) , eaten the space of 1 player in the playing XI, scored zero runs, took zero wkts and zero catches everytime he went on to play till 1995 (when he actually made his debut), and start performing afterwards (after 1995 that is), he would still have roughly an equally great overall record as sachin. Thats the humongous margin by which stats favor kallis. People should seriously read this thread for some genuinely unbiased comments.... http://forum.sportal.com.au/default.aspx?g=posts&t=80761
vaibhav_delhi Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 Lastly, for the people trashing Kallis' ODI strike rate: yes, it is considerably less than sachin. But one has got to consider that kallis has played largest chunk of his cricket (4856 runs) in SA where he scores arnd 74.5 per hundred balls and where, even sachin has scored less than 80 runs per hundred balls. http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/stats/index.html?class=2;filter=advanced;host=3;orderby=runs;template=results;type=batting Also, average runs scored per over in india(where sachin has played majority of his cricket) is 5.12 which is significantly more than RPO in SA (4.79) due to the conditions.... http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/stats/index.html?class=2;filter=advanced;orderby=runs;spanmax2=09+May+2011;spanmin2=05+Jan+1990;spanval2=span;template=results;type=aggregate;view=host
vaibhav_delhi Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 ^^ for starters, you should try to appreciate post#97 and post#89 (for factors other than raw stats) and post#82 (for raw stats)...
jibranpatel15 Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 EVERY CRICKETER IS GR8 AT THEIR POSITION Who are we to compare sachin with Kallis & w Warne with Pollock ?????? Use simple logic no comparison with each other's. Sachin is Gr8 at what he has achieved & Kallis is also gr8 at what he has achieved. There won't be a cricketer with 35000+ international runs like Sachin & there won't be another with 10,000 & 250+ wkts in both ODI & TEST as kallis add catches to that. So please stop these comparisons. I am big SA fan but still rate Sachin ahead as a cricketer. He has got every goal he had to achieve while Kallis still could not win WC for SA. He hasn't performed in WC's as we expect him in crunch games where SA needed him most. But he still is a great cricketer & will be great for ever.
ganeshran Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 Vaibhav who is greater - Warne or Pollock? ya V_d answer the question :orderorder:
vaibhav_delhi Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 Vaibhav who is greater - Warne or Pollock? was tht supposed to be answered?? coz there's no relation with kallis Vs tendu where the gap in stats and performances through the years is glaringly evident.... warne 464 innings 1001 wkts Second Most no. of wkts(708) in the history of test (this counts for more than ODIs) cricket dominated all across the world( except in india relatively) gave life to the art of leg spin. pollock 499 innings 814 wkts 421 wkts in test cricket. significantly less compared to warne underrated allrounder but still, a champion player. But, gets beaten by warne. as for kallis V tendu, never said its abt averages, its about the sheer weight of runs, wkts n catches that kallis has piled on over the yrs and about the factors mentioned in post#89. some said sachin scores (arnd 2.37) more runs per innings, to which I had replied: Kallis doesn't open the innings like sachin, so he doesn't get as much chance as sachin to maximize the runs that he can possibley get(before getting out that is). This is evident in 53 'not outs' from 300 ODI innings and 41 out of 442 for sachin.
Sid Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 Battle is still going on ,neither Bossbhai nor Vaibhav is taking the backward step :nice: But JibranPatel intervened in between and it was a pleasent surprise to see him talking about logic in his post . But the battle is well and truly on
Sid Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 Thread has talken a new turn now ,with Warne and Pollock coming into the picture. Will Outsider reply to Vaibhav,we will find out soon .........

But the battle is well and truly on I think Jabroni's account has been hacked by someone else. Few of his recent posts actually seem sensible and articulate

But the battle is well and truly on also, pls update everyone that vaibhav is losing the inclination to reply bcoz he believes that others are not being honest enough to admit that kallis has much better numbers than tendu.....
