ViruRulez Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 Quite disappointed at UV's team selection for Pune Warriors for the last few games. They are looking too weak in their batting right now and today's batting lineup was like :WTF: .They have game changers like Graeme Smith and Tim Paine and they instead opted for Mitchell Marsh and just to give him a single over to bowl. Graeme Smith was present in the team in the first few matches and they were on top of the table but ever since they have dropped him they are starting to lose every match instead of winning. Graeme Smith is not the best T20 player in the world but he is for sure a game changer a lot better than Mitchell Marsh or for that matter even Tim Paine. He did not click in a few games but that can happen to anyone but who else has clicked for them. :giggle: UV was doing ok in the first few games but not much impressed by UV's team selection and captaincy in the last few games. Smith can provide the much needed suggestions on the field too being a senior player and having led one of the best sides in the world for so many years. I am quite surprised by UV's tactics of making the batting more and more weaker each subsequent match. They need game changers and experienced guys to handle pressure situations. Check the team they played today JD Ryder, MD Mishra MK Pandey M Manhas Yuvraj Singh* RV Uthappa†MR Marsh JE Taylor M Kartik, R Sharma, AC Thomas Except UV the rest of the team has played hardly many international matches. Even a guy like Ryder has only 35 ODIs under his belt. You need experience for guidance in the field and to handle pressure situations. UV seems to be missing the trick here. Graeme Smith is too good and too experienced a player to be benched consistently. Hope he realizes this and fixes his team selection soon. Grame Smith needs to picked for his experience and guidance at least if not for his batting. Not surprised that Pune won all the matches when he played and lost all the matches when he was dropped.

jibranpatel15 Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 :pw: have lost last 2 games in 1st 6-7 overs. Always 4 down in 1st 6-7 overs instead of pushing opposition back in PP. When Smith plays atleast he will give a start to team & Mishra is Useless in opening position. Even Pandey could have been a better choice to open & selection of Mitchell March :headshake: i still am recovering from that selection Nathan Macculum is far better than him in all departments.

Smith was injured when he collided with Rahul Sharma in an earlier match and is yet to recover from the injury. Did not know that Smith is injured. That is fine if he is injured. But to drop Smith when the team is already struggling is a huge mistake in UV does so. There are no seniors in the team and they need Smith at least to guide the team if not for his batting. Anyways their opening has been even worse since the time Smith is not playing. They are losing heaps of wickets at the start and need someone like Smith to give some stand if possible at the start.

Smith went directly to Ireland and married his Irish singer girlfriend instead of going with his national team after their early exit from World Cup. Now if he is again denying to play cricket for some reason or the other then I am not sure if he is really interested in cricket anymore or not.
