We can knock India off: Swann

I wish India prepare well for this series instead of the half assed way they prepare for most overseas test series. No wonder they always lose the first test and play catch up for the rest of the series.

He didn't say anything wrong. Doesn't sound arrogant to me. Winning in England is not going to be a walk in the park. It'll be a good series.
True! And in my opinion he has done us a favor by beating his chest. No matter where you play in the world, if you want to know your greatness as a spinner all you need to do is bowl at the Indian batting line up of the last 20 yrs. The greatest spinner of them all has been successful against India only at home and even though Indian pitches ain't different from his home turf he has been rather mediocre here. The second greatest spinner of dem all has been violated when he played us on arguably spin friendly conditions and has been so-so even with home advantage of having to bowl to lower middle-order and tail (coz Pidge, Gillespie and Lee cleaned the top except Buddha). The only time a spin bowler can have an advantage against batsmen from these stables is when he is playing us the first time. the very next series he will be man-handled so badly (especially if he did well the first time around) he may forget he was a spinner. Only Saqi has had success against India in the 90s...in 99 he got 20 wkts in 2 Tests. Next time we played, Saqi's career was literally finished by the Indian batsmen. The Pakis dropped him! In the 00's only Mendis had success against us..in 08. In 09 he was violated so badly that in 2010 when we toured SL he was no longer even in the first choice XI. Swann...I remember he came here in 2008 and was so-so at best. Now that he is the greatest spinner playing Test cricket let's see how he performs (with his Duke ball and in his den). Last time such hype was created prematurely we saw the blond end up with nightmares of Buddha giving him a lesson in non-violent violation. Nayan Mongia clubbed him for God's sake. They never hyped Murali that way and Murali has had his pride in tact at his den at least. Swanny boy, if you do great against India I'll have no problems claiming you are up there with Warne and Murali and Kumble. But if you don't nothing changes from our perspective...u will still be number 1 spinner in the world but you will have learned a very important lesson in life - to keep your mouth shut if you do not want to be violated again by India. Anyway I am looking forward to this series against England. They've been gloating and making fun of Australia after beating a third grade Aussie team. They've been suggesting, in their typically English sarcastic ways, that they are the number 1 side...you beat us and you are deservedly the number 1 side. But if you can't then I guess nothing changes - barking dogs seldom bite.

Who will open if Sehwag doesn't make it? Vijay won't be good enough in those conditions. I wonder if it might be a good idea to try a new opener in the WI (Mukund or Rahane). Won't happen though.

he is asking you' date=' not telling :giggle:[/quote'] I didn't see the word 'will'...... I don't think that they will become number 1. If Eng beat SL 2-0 and India beat WI 2-0, India will be 127 points and England will still be 3rd on 117.
