If it's added in the showthread template(below the quick reply box, for example), the revenue will increase considerably. The 728x90 ad unit also works very well especially when it is text rather the image ad. The new format of the 728x90 ad puts the sponsored websites in single lines making it look more as a part of the website and blending it well. The clicks increase as the ads are blended better into the websites.

This is called ClickJacking, it is a blackhat activity and is forbidden by Adsense, results in instant and permanent ban from Adsense.

It is amazing indeed if that is the case. If not, why are the owners not trying to put some advertisements given the heavy popularity of the site already!!!!!!! It is not as "heavily popular" as you think it is. As per the following analytics (based on Alexa rank): http://www.websiteoutlook.com/www.indiancricketfans.com With about 15K pageviews per day, it has potential to make about $50 per day. Compare this to some other site (cricbuzz.com), which gets about half a million pageviews per day. 15K is decent traffic, may be good enough to pay the site's running cost. But definitely not a super-business option, not even enough to pay for a single web-admin's salary. Also, it is a different matter how much of its potential ICF is (/want to) encashing. Going by what Outsider said, the site owners are not very interested in that. It would be a pleasant surprise if this site is already surviving organically.
