Rana Posted May 17, 2011 Posted May 17, 2011 Batting cannot bring a team to #1 test ranking, (by the way your team has come down to #7 after losing to the mighty windies) In a test match, bowlers need to take 20 wickets to win the match, it cannot be won on the basis of batting alone. The fact that we have put in a bunch of sustained performances on the test arena itself proves the fact that Indian bowling is underrated. Our bowling is by no account extraordinary, but its not poor either. Nobody underates your spinners, they win you games.
Khalpat Posted May 17, 2011 Posted May 17, 2011 realistically' date=' you should be thoe one hanging his head in shame. No.1 in Tests yet with a population of a billion+, still doesnt have a bowler who can maintain pace above 135k's for more than 2 months![/quote'] We do not need Bowler of more than 135k's mate , our spinners are more than sufficient for the current world cricket. Yes if the rest of the world have batsman half of the caliber of ours we will certainly look into your request.

Wow that's some deep stuff right there! I never knew that results don't matter in cricket but the "real objective" is to bowl phaaast! By that logic Pakistan actually beat India in the semi final as Umar Gul so much phaaaaaster than the Indian bowlers :hysterical:

You've got phaaast bowlers who almost always fail at the big occasions - whats the use of a bowler who can bowl at 150-155 consistently but fails to deliver at the crucial moments?? I'd much rather have medium pacers if they can consistently bowl good line and length.
ganeshran Posted May 17, 2011 Posted May 17, 2011 Nobody underates your spinners' date=' they win you games.[/quote'] And might I ask , who are the super phaasht bowlers with great average that the Pakistani team boast of? Zaheer has a better test record than Gul. Riaz has not even done enough to be rated.

Gotham Cronie Posted May 17, 2011 Posted May 17, 2011 Averaging 36 since 2007 in Test cricket' date= he is finished. You are better off sticking with Ali, Shafiq and Akmal with Younis Khan doing a mentorship role. While compared to his own standards, he hasn't been scoring as prolific, I think Pakistan can still use him if there's room for him in the side. In his return to international cricket against SL, he scored a century and a 90 in the 3rd test as well. Didn't do well against NZ and AUS but I think captaincy affected his batting. He was then flown in to rescue Pakistan's batting and just a few days after arriving in England, he scored a half century to help Pakistan win. I would rather have MoYo than Akmal in the test lineup right now. Akmal still has these brain farts that he needs to sort out. If he doesn't do it early in his career right now, he could ruin his career (coughafridicough). My ideal lineup would be: Opener Azhar Ali Younus Khan Mohammad Yousuf Misbah ul-Haq Asad Shafiq

Gotham Cronie Posted May 17, 2011 Posted May 17, 2011 Pakistani bowlers choke against India in crucial games good example world cup games our bowlers can still win matches unlike urs who take drugs ball tampering bowl big no balls. I think in this last match up, besides Umar Gul who choked, I think our bowlers did well to restrict the best batting side in thew world to 260.

So essentially you're replacing a guy in his early twenties with a lot of potential with a guy in his late thirties, well past his best, for the same level of performance currently (obviously Moyo was much better at his peak). I know you've mentioned captaincy affecting his batting, which may be the case, but I suspect he no longer has the concentration to grind out big scores (as is the case with most batsmen in their late thirties, even the good ones). But I do agree that opening is a real problem, but then it has been in the ten years since Anwar retired.

But if they win the second match, then only 1 point is lost and 6th place will be retained.

MoYo shouldnt be in place of Chotta Akmal, he should replace someone like toffee Kumar who hasnt done enough to justify his place in the team. Youngsters always take some time to start performing so the board should give them the chances before taking a call. But IMO tried and tested failures like Taufeeq, Imran Farhat, Nazir and co should be kept away

But IMO tried and tested failures like Taufeeq, Imran Farhat, Nazir and co should be kept away Though I agree with you, problem is Moyo for Toffee can't be a straight swap because Moyo isn't going to open at this stage of his career. Even if they push Ali to open, that leaves Younis, Misbah, Shafiq, Moyo and Akmal competing for four spots. Personally, I think they should stick with Shafiq, Ali and Akmal. Some of them, particularly Akmal, are ludicrously over hyped by some Pak fans, but ignoring that hype, they can become adequate Test batsmen in time (Akmal slightly better than that if he can rein himself in). Don't see the point of bringing Moyo back. If he was averaging even 40-45 consistently it might have been worth it, but not now.
