vijay810 Posted May 18, 2011 Posted May 18, 2011 As of now its a domestic league but by the 6th IPL this a rough summary of proposed changes. 1) To introduce a team each from non test playing nations like Afghanistan ,USA ,Ireland ,Canada and Kenya and one from test playing Pakistan (surprise) . 5 foreign players per team allowed for teams not from India . That will get sponsors from those countries as well. 2) IPL to be held in 3 phases in a year First phase will consist of a match each between the 16 teams in 20 days. Then everybody is off to International commitment and a gap in IPL. Then second phase for 3 weeks be league matches only but 10 team at top of points table will be involved.... which include few matches in countries from where teams are allowed if they qualify. Six teams will be eliminated from the first phase Third phase will consist of top 6 teams from where 4 team qualify for SF and finally the Final. In short 6 teams will be eliminated from phase 1... From phase 2...four teams will be eliminated From phase3 super 6s.....2 teams will be eliminated and then SF and final will be played. Proposal to take a team from Pakistan (only test playing nation) is simply to involve Pakistan at same time despite political tension because BCCI want the sponsorship from there as well. If political tensions exist Pakistan will play their matches in UAE and other places.This will genrate income from Pakistan sponsorers as well. 3) There is also proposal to play few matches in USA and UAE as well where Indian population is high to attract their interest. Cricket board of USA has been in touch with BCCI on this because my source is part of cricket fraternity in USA. 4) IPL will not be held once in four years and it is bieng proposed that T20 World cup be held every 4 years instead of 2 and ODI World cup be held in same year.. The ODI world cup and T20 world cup will held in same year which IPL is not held.Then for next 3 years IPL will conntinue and then a gap of 1 year. This is a cycle planned to accommodate clash of world cups and IPL ICC has almost agreed to it .but only fear expressed is players from cricket playing nations migrating to USA, Canada and that is why the proposal is in a deadlock till a way out is found to counter that. It is also said that ECB is only one who is opposing it. Even PCB has agreed since its teams matches will be arranged to be played in neutral venues if relations are not good.However BCCI has expressed desire to include one local Pakistan team in the future to create interest in Pakistan for IPL.

Ramzz Posted May 18, 2011 Posted May 18, 2011 The only reason I see BCCI allowing a Paki team is for their vote on this proposal. Once the proposal is passed through, expect BCCI to use the govt as an excuse to not allowing a Paki team...lol

Now that the BCCI is helping a lot of the other boards and are making it easier for other boards in regards to the IPL, most boards will support BCCI if BCCI ever wants support in anything. So there is no need for the PCB vote in any matter. Infact, the game is dependent on the BCCI so much that it can actually pass any resolution even if all the other boards are against it. BCCI under the ICC is very similar to the US under the UN.

I cannot risk mt friend(my source).......however if these are implemented by end of 6th IPL and its ok then ill ask my friend to say Hello. For those of you thinknig this is a useless thread.if and when these thnigs come true......youll have missed a chance..........becasue by 6th IPL teams will go listed on stock market.
