Trevor Penney could be India's new fielding coach

The decision, sources told, was reached in a meeting between India's newly appointed coach Duncan Fletcher and the BCCI secretary N Srinivasan. Penney could have been Fletcher's recommendation for the fielding coach as both come from Zimbabwe and Penney was with the England team during Fletcher's tenure as coach of the T20 Champions. However, no official announcement has yet been made of Penney's appointment. Robin Singh was the last full-time fielding coach of Team India but was sacked in 2009 along with bowling coach Venkatesh Prasad. Australia's fielding coach Mike Young was then roped in as a consultant for a month. Penney was also part of the Tom Moody-led support staff when the Australian was in charge of the Sri Lanka and Kings XI Punjab teams. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ A good decision this. Penney is often hailed for revolutionising Sri lankan fielding. Hopefully he can help us become a consistent fielding unit as well.

I watched him play quite a lot in county cricket and he has a pretty good rep as a coach.

I think Munaf's fielding has improved leap & bounds due to his stint with Jhonty Rhodes in MI. Not sure about Nehra..

Last time we had Mike Young for a short while as our fielding coach and actually our fielding got worse,we dropped a catch every match during his short stay.

Jonty has had some success with Munaf...and you can see how happy he is when Munaf does well on the field. Must be life's biggest achievement. Too bad he is already taken.

Penney or Bunny can't do too much to folks like Nehra, Daadaji Munaf Patel and RP Singh et.al. However hope Penney can help lift fielding of other players at least.
