The label certainly appears to fit in the minds of British police. Scotland Yard, the UK's police force, has given Obama the security codename 'Chalaque' for his visit this week to the United Kingdom, the UK Daily Mail reports. The term is reportedly a Punjabi word meaning someone who is too clever for his own good, according to the newspaper. A Punjabi speaker told the newspaper that the word is 'not considered rude', but could be 'mildly offensive'. "It is also said to mean 'cheeky, crafty and cunning'," the paper notes. Scotland Yard insiders told the Sunday Times that codewords are randomly generated by computer, "but the paper wondered why officials decided to stick with them, when they could have simply had another word selected that would be less provocative," the paper notes. As in Britain, security code names are used in America by U.S. Secret Service to identify high-profile individuals under their protection. President Obama's code name at the time of the 2008 election was "Renegade" and Michelle Obama's was "Renaissance." Secret Service code names typically change over time. The president and the First Lady on Tuesday travel to Buckingham Palace as guests of Queen Elizabeth. Yesterday, the president's armored car--nicknamed the Beast--got stuck as it tried to leave the U.S. embassy in Dublin.

Misu243 Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 Obama knows how to talk the talk but doesn't follow it up with action. In 2008 right before being elected President, he promised he would deliver immigration reform in his first year in office, in fact his 100 days. He could've easily done this right after because the Democrats had a clear majority in the house and also a filibuster proof majority in the Senate. Yet he waited till the last few hours of the session to pass the most conservative version of the Dream Act, a "down payment" bill to CIR. What happens? The house passes the bill...the Public supports it...the President is waiting to sign it..the senate votes 55-41 on it effectively killing the bill. Now immigration reform is dead until 2013...even it doesn't seem likely in 2013 because I don't think the Democrats can win the House again. Sad.

Immigration Reform is one of the good things that this administration can do as a step towards improving in those areas.

Who will tell the white farmers and general public not to employ cheap workers and nannies for their children? On one hand the populace shamelessly uses the illegal cheap labor, but elect officials who make powerful speeches about illegal immigrant problem!
yoda Posted May 27, 2011 Posted May 27, 2011 I agree with coffee. Illegal immigrants provide for nice cheap labor in the US. Yes, they suck in a lot of free services to go with it, but I am not sure if their overall impact on US economy is negative or positive.
