"He put the plans on the table and asked whether I would be prepared to do it. Of course one could not say no to something like that," De Villiers said. "I was a little dumbstruck because he is one of my heroes and it was great to see him," he added. He then said, “Kirsten was in India to give a talk. He phoned me and said he would like to share his thoughts with me. I initially thought he would only be discussing batting with me. He previously helped me with that.†AB de Viliers said that it will be a great thing to work with Gary Kirsten. He then said that his new job as the Proteas captain will be a great responsibility for him and it will also a great honour for him to lead his country. Mean while, the South African pace hero Dale Steyn is hugely excited to work with the newly appointed South African bowling coach, Allan Donald. At the same time, Steyn paid tribute to Vincent Barnes, Donald's long-time predecessor in the role who is presently contemplating fresh options in the game. Steyn said that he used to imitate Donald in his younger days back in the gardens. Allan Donald was his role model. According to him it will be a massive thing for him to work with Allan Donald.
