Drop Bhajji and give Ashwin a chance

Absolutely agree. Poor guys Ashwin must be thinking he does everything right when picked and still manages to find himself out of the team for the next match. Don't know what more should he do.

Gannu, Bhajji is not going anywhere.. Just live with the fact..Why do you think Bhajji wanted to play all the matches in this tour ala Afridi touring with the Pak team? Bhajji clearly knows that the moment he leaves his place vacant, others might dislodge him..
Exactly! Bhajji Paaji is smaart baay :winky:

If there is a case of choosing between Bhajji and Ashwin' date=' I would pick Ashwin anyday in ODIs, he has played limited number of games and has proved his worth. Ashwin did really well in the WC too. But going by the trend among Indian captains, Be it Ganguly or Dhoni Harbhajan was always Captains favourite as a result he would never be dropped.[/quote'] For this series I would definitely have given a chance to Ashwin and rested Harbhajan. As for captains liking Harbhajan it probably is that he's a team player and fighter to the core. He never gives up and is always up for a fight, and doesn't shy away from tough situations. In fact in a few tight chases Harbhajan has taken us over the line like Asia Cup game against Pak where he smashed Akhtar and Aamir for 6s or the recent one against SA in SA. No matter what you say the guy is a fighter through and through and as a captain you gotta love it. The guy is temperamentally tough as shown when India toured Aus and the crowds were booing for him post monkeygate but Harbhajan went on to dismiss both Symonds and Hayden in both the CB Series finals! That's a big game player for you right there.

Ithink Ashwin should get a chance but the hatred people are displaying for Harbhjan is borderline pathalogical. He is a team person and had always performed well. He probably is the best spinner out there.

Folks are showing hate for him. Ashwin has not there for any length of time and the way people write about him as if he already walks on water. Guys Harbhajan has proved himself over an extended period of time.
Well that is stretching a bit too far :--D. Yes Ashwin isn't established yet but I think he is a better bow;ler than Bhajji in ODIs, in Tetss though, Bhajji is our best spinner, there is no second thought about that. But what I am trying to say is let Bhajji earn his test spot. If we are to play just one spinner in England, I would go in with Mishra for the first test and let Bhajji realize that he isn't guaranteed a spot and he has to fight and earn his spot. On current form, I would pick Mishra ahead of him against Poms on those tracks as it will have lot more assistance for wrist spinners than finger spinners.

On principle I agree with you that no one should be gauranteed a spot. As far as England series is concerne I would go with two spinners and two seamers and it could be a combination of Bhaji/Mishra/Ashwin. Those wkts may swing that much late in the year.

If I have to pick two spinners it would definitely be Mishra and Bhajji as there is no comparison between Bhajji and Ashwin in Tests. But if I were to pick in ODIs, I would have gone in with Ashwin.

So Bhajji is insecure and hence did not drop out of the tour? If players opt for rest, they are giving preference to IPL and if some senior guy has said yes to playing, he is doing it to secure his spot in the team? What ridiculous arguments backed up by some ludicruous conspiracy theories. Bhajji did not play against NZ, Bhajji did not play in the Zim series in 2010, during those times he was in fact bowling worse than what he is right now. Was he not insecure then? In fact in 2010, he played only 4-5 ODIs, did anyone replace him from the team? The guy bowled well in the knock out matches of the WC, has bowled well on the tour so far, one bad match (in fact one bad spell), and he should be thrown out? And the next time Ashwin bowls badly , he should be thrown out too and the cycle should continue. Reminds me of the late 90s, early 2000s when people had totally written off Kumble. Kumble then made a spectacular comeback and picked up more than 250+ wickets in the last 4-5 years of his career.

This is the perfect series for young guys to gain some international experience without harming India's chances much. So Bhajji should have been rested.
Bhajji knew that if he rests and Ashwin does well, he could be dropped. So, he opted to play.

Mishra's batting sucks' date= Ashwin is just as bad and a worse fielder. Bhajji at least is a better fielder/batsmen so he gets the edge. That's it, plain and simple.

Are you trolling? Because you sound like a Paki right now. Only KT could have come up with a post like this. Look even he agrees with you.
:hysterical::hysterical:Still bitter from being owned in politics section by me. Let it go kid! I know you think mandela and ghandhi did nothing for their countries but cos I outed that dumbness dont get bitter. Bhaji has been superb for India with 350 plus test wickets and yet gets treated like this, very sad. Also played crucial part in our wc win. Had best economy rate of all our bowlers in the tournament. O how the masses forget, the masses can be so fickle.:((
