achilles Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 Friends, we spend a lot of time feeling sad, disappointed and cribbing about things that don't go our way. So I thought, why not have a thread which reminds people about the good times, a thread where everyone can pour in with their good experiences and share their happy moments, be it from the past or present. Everytime someone feels sad, I'm sure the posts in this thread will bring a smile on his/her face and give the person a positive vibe... like a good ole hug in tough times.
achilles Posted June 18, 2011 Author Posted June 18, 2011 Let me start with a walk down memory lane- When I was in the 4th grade, I had participated in a swimming competition. My classmates, teachers and even my parents were there. I was a bit nervous. But as soon as I dived into the pool, my entire class started cheering for me, egging me on, helping me push and push. I remember pausing a second while doing the freestyle stroke and looked at the crowd. The sheer intensity with which people were cheering me on brought such a massive smile to my face that I pushed myself even harder and won the Gold. Looking back at this incident makes me forget my worries and gives me another reason to try and succeed at what I'm doing.
achilles Posted June 18, 2011 Author Posted June 18, 2011 A more recent one- My team and I had participated at an inter-college festival. 5 of us from my class were to make a Presentation for the competition. 2 people backed out at the last minute and we were the only team with 3 people, while 20 other teams had the complete quota of 5. We were at a massive disadvantage from the start. My teammates were very nervous. But I calmed their nerves and adopted a completely chilled out approach to the presentation. We were given the topic on the spot, no internet and a few hrs to prepare a plan of how we would help reconstruct a village. We worked very hard and didn't really expect to win. We got to the final round, made a presentation before the crowd and when it was time from the Winners trophy to be given, the entire auditorium, in unison, yelled out loud my name. And the emcee said, "yes, come on stage guys". There were 3 teams from our college and though my classmates didn't win, they came and gave us some very warm hugs. I still remember the way a classmate of mine hugged and told me, "We are proud of you". Happy moments.

EnterTheVoid Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 I think a few posters should be categorized as a joke so nobody takes them seriously.
