Temujin Khaghan Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 one innings? one test match? a three match series (against WI)? WI tour + 4 tests in england? one full season? i was thinking that we should wait until the england test match gets over and then rate our changing test team. but some members at ICF are very very impatient... they are already saying that we will rot in hell until civilization ends, based on 1 - ONE innings.

Well, it depends. You could play 8 test matches on absolute gutter flat tracks and learn nothing about the batsmen. On the other hand, that first innings against the pace and accuracy of Rampaul/Edwards and quality spin from Bishoo was a very good indicator because that's the sort of cricket you expect in England and later in Australia in our winter tour. Dravid and Dhoni just got two very, very good deliveries from Bishoo. It happends. But the way Mukund/Vijay/Kohli got out was embaressing. Playing away from your body, with your head/feet nowhere near the line of the ball is just stupid when all you have to do is be patient and wait for the ball to lose it's shine. It's not the first time Vijay/Kohli have gotten out in that manner. They would do well to learn quickly that you have to prize your wicket and not think you can be like Sehwag and get away with poor technique.

He was caught behind playing a defensive shot, wasn't he?
Zero_Unit Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 Wait you can't compare this team that's playing WI atm with the team that will go on to play England and Co. WI got a weak Indian team to play where as Eng will get the fully stong team to face.
jairamesh Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 This is not the team that will play in England. +1. Also an away series against England or SA will tell you more about a player than playing 100 matches against this West Indies team. Especially the bowlers as this bunch of West Indies batsman are hopeless.
