Ishant vs Gul

Both are tall quick fast bowlers. Gul is average in Test, except the 5 for against india on a bowler friendly condition, I have not seen anything great from him whereas in his short career Ishant has already bowled a few great spells in test match. Who do you think is good and looking good for the future in Test. As far as limited over games are concerned, Gul has been better. I dont see any comparison there.

Average Gul has better average' date='S/R, more 4 fers, 5 fers than than Ishant Sharma.[/quote'] Hardly any difference between the strike rates. 58.6 and 60. Gul has played closed to 70% of the game outside pakistan whereas Ishant played only 60% of the game outside India. We all know India and Pakistan pitches are lot flatter than pitches in other countries.

ishant has a long a way to go. he can be compared with wahab riaz. but ishu doesn't wear jackets...:giggle:
agewise I should have compared Gul with Zaheer. but I dont see any contest except the overall average. We all know how crap zaheer was in his first few years. I compared last 5 yrs between these two, Gul's stats looked embarassing. so I decided not to compare both. I thot Ishant and Gul comparison is better as they have both played similar number of games. both are not consistant. but Ishant is more promising tho as he is young and taller too.

70% and 60% is not much difference. Playing outside has helped Gul but Ishant has other advantages as well like better catches in slips & always bowling with a good score on tha board.

yeah not a big difference but that is the reason why Ishant strike rate is slightly higher than gul. As far as fielding is concerned, Indian fielding was pretty similar to Pakistan but only in the last yr or so they are better in fielding. I dont understand why pakistanis have this excuse all the time, if bowlers dont get wickets, reason is either pitch is flat, captain is crap and defensive, fielder is not catching, etc., these are the common excuses from you guys everytime your bowlers fail to get wickets. why dont you guys accept the fact that wasim and waqar are not playing anymore for your team.

In test I'd say not much difference between both. Both are bowlers who need to get going from the start if they're hit for runs they lose their line and length. In LOI though Gul wins it hands down.

You are right. but I feel Ishant looks more promising and I am sure he will be one of the top bowlers in the future. He has everything. Height, pace, etc., once he gets matured and learns the trick of swinging and seeming the ball both ways. He will be a topclass bowler. I dont see the same in Gul. he has been average for long time. very inconsistant. he is already 28. I dont see any improvement.

Ishant certainly looks promising but he did look the same or even better when we first saw him in the tour down under but after that he lost his way. Unless he becomes consistent and doesn't lose pace again can't really tell. Most Indian bowlers have had the talent and potential but they don't sustain long enough sadly.

I think hes going to come back stronger now .Its a familiar pattern..burst on the scene, trail off and then mature..More often than not, bowlers fall off after their initial failures, but I think the board is going to stick with him.Hes got that something extra and I think he will be successful.:two_thumbs_up:

LOI's its a no contest , though in Tests I would take Sharma even at this point .. Gul apart from his deadly yorkers has nothing elase to offer , I cannot see him bcom a sucessful bowler in the longer format .
