jairamesh Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 This will lead to around 11 or 12 games per year.:two_thumbs_up: Also two 5-tests series are planed for England tours of 2014 and 2018.B-> Other Good news is; a Pakistan tour to India has been proposed for 2013. BCCI has hasn't gone overboard with ODIs. Arranging 166 games in the next 8 years, averaging around 20 ODIs per year. So far so good with the FTP draft proposal. Best news is that tontee-tontee games have been kept to minimum of between 30-55 over the next 8 years. :yay: (I still believe t20 should overwhelmingly be played at domestic level only). I would probably expect India playing more than 90 Tests, as the FTP excludes World Test Championships and probably more games arranged against Pakistan is 2013 is goes smoothly. We can reassuringly say Test cricket is on safe grounds. ICC now just needs to popularize more to get more fans into stadiums. Though more games between Aus-Eng-Ind will help.
gult Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 Pakistan touring India?? :nervous: They already toured mumbai in 2008 and we know what happened then.
jairamesh Posted June 26, 2011 Author Posted June 26, 2011 When is world test championship? If things go swimmingly then 2013. Top four will play in a play-off style knock-out (semis & finals). England have been declared hosts for 2013. But word of caution this has all been approved formally by ICC but no official fixture and competition rules confirmed (i.e. what happens during draws?).
deepak_sach Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 Pakistan touring India?? :nervous: They already toured mumbai in 2008 and we know what happened then. That was an unofficial tour. This is official.
phaedrus Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 5 test series in england. ftw! should have the same for south africa and australia. the top four, should infact have 5 match series against each other.
King Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 There should be 5 tests vs South Africa at home and away at the moment. England still in India is pretty much a watershed. I would have loved to see two levels of separation, one for the top 5 sides and the other for the bottom 5 test sides. This will have definitely helped the likes of Zimbabwe and Bangladesh to start churning better results. I'm not so sure just 20 ODIs is a way to go, it sounds like the ftp has been managed to fit IPL/Champions trophy. I'm not saying it's bad or good but just my observation.
Sidhoni Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 A good FTP but the overplaying and lack of rest still continues.BTW, 2013-2014-2015 seem really good years with WTC, Eng tour and ICC World cup 2015.
Cricket Tragic Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 Good FTP. All the talk of a balanced schedule is a load of rubbish. Would you rather see more of India vs Eng/SA/Aus or India vs WI/Bang just for the sake of it? The top teams should play more against each other.
King Tendulkar Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 But aren't we meant to be killing test cricket?
Cricket Tragic Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 I would have liked to see India/Aus and Aus/SA being 5 tests as well. 2 test series between the top teams should be banned. Aus and SA will be playing a 2 test series this year.
Ultimate_Game Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 India playing a 5 Test series!!! Now that's a new one for me
Ultimate_Game Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 Padosis crying on Cricinfo. :cantstop: :cantstop: They always find a new way of doing so. And no doubt BCCI conspiracy theories would be doing the rounds as usual :hysterical:
cowboysfan Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 why are the pakis getting so many matches? they cant play at home!!!
achilles Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 What happened to the "BCCI and India is killing Test cricket" campaign? I was looking forward to entertainmentz from the left leaning journos :hitler: I'm sure the line will change to "BCCI and India are going for a Test cricket overkill"
Ultimate_Game Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 What happened to the "BCCI and India is killing Test cricket" campaign? I was looking forward to entertainmentz from the left leaning journos :hitler: I'm sure the line will change to "BCCI and India are going for a Test cricket overkill" Don't worry they will find a new topic to bash India on... my money is on "BCCI flies Indian players business class which is a disrespect to players from other countries like Pakistan, B'desh etc."
Sir_Afridi Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 Pakistan playing less tests is understandable because they lose out on home games but why NZ,WI & SL are not playing enough games. The teams down the rankings wont have any chance of becoming No 1 even if they improve. No wonder most current players call the ranking system a joke.
