MCcricket Posted September 16, 2011 Posted September 16, 2011 England is a good side on the whole as a package, excellent fielding, batsmen prepared to play long innings, bit of variety in their bowling, not extra ordinary though, also have good bench strength.Australia, SA, iNDIA their best sides could beat England, also England won the series in their home, which is taken for granted that any team comes to India and looses in their home conditions.England team has a bit of steel about them as far as their attitude that being the big difference then before also the selection has been good compared to earlier.Kp to me is the world class batsmen, everyone else is effective specially unknown quantity away from home,I believe Swann and Bresnan will be successfull both away and at home.England has been the biggest under achiever as far as cricket and soccer, it is good that atleast they are learning to win in cricket so the hysteria ,in India with Indian players being fit and right selection they will not win much.Probably learned from Austarlia how to over hype their team , ambush the visiting teams, mind[dirty ] games, with Australia they were superior also they prolonged their reign at the top due to their umpires, Nz-aus, ind-aus series if umpiring was fair was won by visitng teams and other series other then that. The India team lost beacuse they were not prepared, injuries also jaded and selection.England is good but beatable home and away

MCcricket Posted September 17, 2011 Posted September 17, 2011 Australia had a untarnished record, the best side ever after WIndies in their prime , but before neutral umpires , people touring Autralia had to play against a team of 15 players in terms of what it took to win as far as umpiring, Tendulkar given shoulder before wicket lol , the whole series when India was done in by very poor Aussie umpiring , almost blatantly biased, before that I have a distinct recollection when NZ team should've won the series in Australia and were robbed by umpiring through out the series, Australian umpires just found a way to either not give benefit of doubt or give wrong decisions targetting the 3 main players of the opposing side , this was well known, West Indies did not have that kinda support, they won it because they were the best side fairly and squarely , whereas Autralian side had a very good support from their umpires, not to say their side was a level above other sides during most of their reign at the top, what I am saying here is that, the record would not have been that one sided if not for umpiring in Austarlia
Robelinda Posted September 17, 2011 Posted September 17, 2011 Um, what about the terrible umpiring in the 1998 Aus tour of India? Even in the 1992 Eng tour of India there were shockers galore. Don't be so biased, most home countries umpires were terrible, not just Australia. And don't give me this garbage about the WI umpires being great, its quite obvious you didn't watch much WI home matches, they had easily the worst home umpires I've ever seen. Cumberbatch in particular.
MCcricket Posted September 17, 2011 Posted September 17, 2011 What you are saying is truth partially, there is a difference between incompetent umpiring , and planned downfall of a visitng side that is threatening or maybe good enough to beat their team , where metal disintegration , dirty games along with planned attack on key players verbally thru press and umpiring targetting those players,West Indies interms of their sheer dominance due to the quality of players was dominant, Autralia a step below them at their best , but during key home series with sides that were strong to upset their team , you could predict what will be the game plan of their cricket machinery.
kevinpp24 Posted September 17, 2011 Posted September 17, 2011 If thats true because, I didn't watched those, then I'm right when felt umpires leaned towards India for last 2 years, I'm pretty sure India would have lost 2-0 in South Africa had there been DRS, everything went India's way. I think at the end of India vs New Zealand, Dhoni put lot of pressure on umpires telling they are aren't doing good job and especially Steve Davis and he really gave everything in favor of India in SA. Same goes in the end of Laxman-Ishant parnership vs Australia. I think I think when umpires get it wrong then unfortunately it may go completely in favor of one team.

I don't know what cricket you have watched of the WI at home in the 80's but there were three tours that were full of WI intimidating the umpires, 1987 NZ, 1984 AUS, and 1989/90 England. The WI press layer into their attitudes and crazy behaviour towards the umpires, and this is completely forgetting the 1980 tour of NZ....the most disgraceful behaviour by ANY touring team, the WI were at the worst that series.
