Tapioca Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 It is indeed. Previous highest was Srinath with 18 wickets in SA in 1996/97' date=' Sreesanth in SA in 2006/07 and Zak in England in 2007[/quote'] Irfan took 21 in a 2-Test series is Zimbabwe, that could also be counted here
deepak_sach Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 3 test series against WI in India Ishant Sharma will be licking his lips.
rkt.india Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 :hysterical::hysterical: man what are you saying ishant was hammered in the second innings' date='zak was bowling at 120 km and jogging in,only sreesanth bowled well and bowled fast and was unlucky not to get kallis when dhoni took. Him off as he ws too agressive and told him. We are gandhians about ishant what you said-http://72.232.250.10/showthread.php?t=264556&page=3[/quote'] Bhai Ishant was not in rhythm and form and still he was faster than Sreeshanth in whole series and in that test on that day Sreeshanth was not even able to touch 130K forget about being fast. He was just coming and delivering the ball. He was so sucked till then and was only blabbering his mouth. You need to bowl with your words, otherwise you become a topic of fun like in case of Sreeshanth. He was embarrassing himself and as well as the team on that day with his childish behavior. He needs to understand cricket is not about talk, it is about performance. Because of same kind of problems, a bowler like Andre Nel was left out by South African management. Symonds went in oblivion as well. And you know, how many matches Sreeshanth has contributed significantly in an Indian win....lets count Johanesberg 2006--5 wicket haul, against SL 5 wickets at Motera in 2009, and in Durban...don't remember the number of wickets. Tell me more if you can remember. So according my count 3 test matches in 5 years. On the other hand, Ishant is gonna get second man of the series of his career in this series. Tell me if you can find how many Indian fast bowlers have achieved this feat at the age of 22.
Kumar Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 Wasn't particularly impressed with Ishants 5iver today. Batsmen gave wickets away, and it looked like at times the west Indians treated the test as an ODI Real Test will be in England, where opposition will be of something twice as good as WI, and more importantly bowlers will have a bigger role in securing test wins!

Please do not lie - sreesanth fastest ball was 137km/h that day cR1jwbJ4zgw He bowled pretty well to kallis and got 2 good appeals against him either could have been given and india might have won, You forget he took 5 wickets in teh first innings and he has every right to say what he wants on the field after a good performance ,mr pussy dhoni had no right to give him a lecture in the middle of the pitch sa are no saints, Nel was extreme tell me how many time sree has been even called up by match refree in every test he has played where india has won he has contributed to india win- career stats-unfiltered 2006-2011 24 263 35 11.43 0 79 5/40 35.16 3 5 india wins -filtered 2006-2010 10 62 29 6.20 0 33 5/40 27.33 2 1 0 sreesanth has done well against top teams ,we cannot just jump the gun on ishant after seeing him in west indies against possibly a club line up on helpful pitches,Ishant has got his pace up and also improved on bouncers but still the huge incutter he used to bowl is missing,i wish him well and think he,zak, sree will do well in eng

Batsmen gave wickets away, and it looked like at times the west Indians treated the test as an ODI Real Test will be in England, where opposition will be of something twice as good as WI, and more importantly bowlers will have a bigger role in securing test wins! He will have more helpful conditions in England. I do not think anyone gifted his wicket to Ishant. There were plans for every batsman like bowling bouncers to Barath and Kirk which went well. Delivery to Bravo was brilliant. That was not an ODI shot. He was not giving an inch to the batsmen and was always on the batsmen's face. He rarely bowled loose deliveries, even though there was nothing much in the pitch for fast bowlers. Pitch was very slow and did not much bounce as well and it was a very good effort in regards to all these factors. Though England will be a tough opposition and he will have to prove that he is back to his best like he was in 2008 when he was adjudged man of the series against then no. 1 side Australia which had a better batting line up than this England team has.

Sreeshant even on his good day can be as inconsistent as Ishant on his bad days and is not one who will assure consistent performance throughout the series. Sreeshanth too played against. Fastest ball 137 means nothing until someone is consistent. Ishant on any day can bowl around that speed on average with fastest going around 144kPH which he did in the last test and has bowled so many overs in this series with rare inconsistency.

Sreeshanth also has played less tests. Ishant played his debut test against Bangladesh. Sreeshanth played one test against BD in which he was rubbish in second innings.
phaedrus Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 3 test series against WI in India Ishant Sharma will be licking his lips. not if they go for roads like Motera.
rkt.india Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 not if they go for roads like Motera. Ishant has average of 28 on these roads in India
TrueWorldChamps Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 Can Ishant Sharma get another 10 wicket haul? He would need to pick up another 3 to make it but is there a good chance for him to do it? Having being is great form, i just hope he does it in style and this time with a win and hoping rain doesn't spoil the party unlike in 2nd Test where he could have been the match of the match with a win.
