Where have all the quick bowlers gone?

p.s - If you are a Paki troll ( there are a few good Pakistani posters as well ) then I am sorry I don't possess either the " logic " to convince you or the insults to " beat " you. I hope you are not.
You can say whatever you want but please don't comment on my nationality. I am a core Indian to the heart and fan of Javagal Srinath. I rate the 6-21 spell as the best spell by an Indian bowler in the last two decades. I am not a Pakistani troll and you can check my posts around ICF. The argument was on the speed of Srinath versus Akram. Akram was genuinely fast and as I confessed earlier Srinath must have been faster than Akram at certain times. Cricinfo is not just another statistics site mind you! If you believe one article from it, you have to believe another one too. You can't conveniently choose to remain skeptical to suit your point.

A couple of posters had referred to articles in cricinfo because you seem to have such absolute and unquestioned faith in anything it says, refers or suggests. Many of us had seen those events on TV or read about it in newspapers etc., like Srinath notching up 93 mph during the 1999 world cup and being rated as the second fastest bowler at that time after Shoaib, when those events happened. We don't have to depend on cricinfo to know those events or facts. Even good websites don't get every minute detail correct. Classifying Srinath as Fast-medium is one of them. Such deep belief in website info....hmm... I hope a reputed website does not erroneously refer to you as a monkey. Given your tendency you may immediately jump on a tree, start eating bananas and live on trees for ever. :--D

Cricinfo is an authentic cricket website. I believe in authenticity. So, if you post a link from a website you believe in it. PERIOD But, again you tend to conveniently ignore another listing of the website. I wonder why !

Many includes me and I have seen them too. There will be people who claim there will be Aliens on Earth to kidnap our cows. Even newspapers will have articles and media will have shows after them. I am not sure what to believe. I tend to stick safe. I agree with the bold but you can't argue without facts. Just saying, "My eyes are speed guns and measuring the speed with a Shaktiman power" isn't a great argument! Moreover, haven't I agreed that Srinath may have been as fast as Akram during his best and I was wrong in my initial argument?

In which posts in this thread have I posted a link from Cricinfo to prove my point ? You are mixing up your facts. I have only refered to the erroneous classifications made by Cricinfo regarding Srinath, Ishant, Mithun and Amar Singh and have stated that others had referred to the site as you have deep belief in their facts.

Where have I argued without facts ? To support my point I have mostly stated a few prominent events and matches which maybe around 80% of the posters here have watched on TV. To the true cricket lover watching himself is a much bigger proof than reading websites. Are you one of the few who follow their cricket by reading the ball-by-ball commentary on Cricinfo rather than see it yourself, beause you trust websites rather than your own eyes watching TV ? :omg: I have not said that my eyes are speed guns. I infact have given many speed gun readings that I have seen myself, to prove my point. Many many others have also seen those speeds as they were shown on TV. Unfortunately there is no official speed-gun-reading database that I know of. As both Akram and Srinath have played a lot during times without regular speed gun readings, any classifications made by others, including websites, must have been based on their or other's " speed gun eyes " mainly .

I obviously believe in what I see with my eyes but on a public forum how do I put a case? Use some authentic websites, videos to prove my point. Otherwise, it's just going to be my word against yours, ain't it? If you know of other websites etc. which can help me make a more informed decision, let me know. It would be great having this discussion over a cup of coffee at a common place but this world doesn't allow that luxury. That's the reason this thread exists else there would be no discussion! Even Jeff Thompson clocked close to 100mph over a speed-gun but it's authenticity has come to question. Same with Shoaib Akhar. Now, the main issue here is the classification of these bowlers by Cricinfo. Personally, I believe bowlers are fast and pacy at their best and significantly drop speed due to natural factors like injuries etc. I have watched these matches by Srinath (even the 6-21 one and it's my favorite Indian fast bowling spell) and IMHO I agree with Cricinfo's classification. My argument is based on the fact that Srinath (though as fast as Akram for a couple of years) wasn't fast enough during his entire career to given him the Fast bowler status. Akram (remember he had a 19-year career) bowled fast for a major part of his fast bowling career to be judged fast. The same sentiment is echoed by Cricinfo (just a website to validate !). I think we can agree to disagree on the speed of Srinath versus Akram. Edit - Just in case to show that there doesn't exist much bias on Cricinfo and in line with what I have seen Glenn McGrath is classified as Fast-Medium http://es.pn/pYPUdM and same for Shaun Pollock http://es.pn/oJvhtR Mind you both Pollock & McGrath in their hayday were quick. Pollock especially used to love knocking off heads.
