Blue Panther Posted July 23, 2011 Posted July 23, 2011 Look what it has done to indian cricket with this attitude. 1.India's pace spearhead zak looked fat and didnt give importance to his fitness when he was rested. He should have been ready for the test series. 2.Anirudha srikkanth picked for Emerging player's tournament and yet nobody in the media or public questiones abt it. 3.Bhajji keep on giving interviews that he is gonna pick wickets and he thinks he deserves a place in indian team even after all the rubbish display of bowling. 4.Captain cool agrees for a draw when there was only 85 to score from 90 balls. This mindset has caused us a lot. I am tired of this.(

Wasn't it was Zaheer according to Ishant as he adviced him the importance of fitness to a medium pacers. So what happened to ur fitness mr.zaheer or for u its only for the advice to others.:haha:

I agree with the rest of what you wrote.even if it was impossible target then also dhoni should have played out those 15 overs.agreeing to draw is not wat he should have done.

This mindset has caused us a lot. I am tired of this.:(( I wouldn't just say cricket. 1, I believe if India can't win this due to lack of another bower and if Zaheer was indeed unfit; I believe all those privy to that information including Zak, physio and even MS Dhoni should be rapped up. Shane Warne was once dropped for being overweight. Rules are rules for everyone which includes even the great Sachin Tendulkar. 2 has been criticized all over in the media and the same with 4. For 3, we don't have a better option. Some time back Harsha Bhogle said this : "India's biggest problem is not going to be when Sachin Tendulkar retires, it is when Anil Kumble retires". Lastly, the "chalta hai" attitude exists everywhere in India. None less than in the customer service industry. So, next time when you pay Re.1/- more than the MRP for the bottled water think about the very same chalta hai attitude and the trend set by you.
ahilya Posted July 23, 2011 Posted July 23, 2011 Rather chaltha hai attitude is ingrained into indian culture and civilisation from thousands of years.

Blue Panther Posted July 23, 2011 Author Posted July 23, 2011 I wouldn't just say cricket. Good point. Its in our mindset.
The Realist Posted July 23, 2011 Posted July 23, 2011 I agree but its the settling for mediocrity and not striving to be better which really irks me. Case in point is the continual bewildering selection of Harbhajan Singh when its apparent he is in terminal decline and is now longer any threat at test level. Non performance after non performance is rewarded with always being picked. Yet this attitude and mindest tolerates this as nobody has the balls to drop an older player. Its obvious his selection is holding India back as he has effectively become a passenger yet nothing happens and we contine to accept mediocrity.
Sidhoni Posted July 23, 2011 Posted July 23, 2011 :top:thread But the Dominica test should not have been one of those.
Pagalpanti Posted July 23, 2011 Posted July 23, 2011 Rather than trying to be dominating we're content by just being above everyone else, Indians are lazy and its coming from generations. you can't expect a change there... :isalute:
Alchemist Posted July 23, 2011 Posted July 23, 2011 I agree with all the above points of OP. But once the sudden sprout of emotion settles down, we should also turn our attention to the fact that, This is the same set of players with same attitude that led us to : - Number 1 ranking in the world. - WC win. On the lines of OP, I think we (India) don't know how to stay on top. We will do every thing to get to the top. But once there, we lose our focus. We don't believe in stamping our authority. Case in point (though not related to the topic) is our freedom struggle. Everybody fought for it, but once we got it, what have we done in the past 60 years ? Japan and Germany were totally destroyed during the same time period. Just compare where those 2 are and where we are. I would still say that the attitude of current lot is way better than late 80s and 90s. I have seen games, where people would conserve wickets instead of going for a win.

Japan and Germany didnt have such a huge country, a huge population, over 30 languages, multiple cultures, multiple religions and as much poverty
